About
My service stands out when you'll first meet me in person. I've been in the spotlight for years as a teacher, I've always been the kind of guy that finds the humor in everything. I've had clients that I've met tell me after the session that they felt very comfortable with me and that they feel like they've known me for years. This is extremely important when photographing people that aren't completely comfortable in front of the camera. My personal favorite type of photography is with families, especially families with smaller children. Having taught in elementary school and middle school for over a decade and having twin girls of my own I've grown to really love the innocence and genuine smiles and actions toddlers have. The parents also have a certain look that just shows how proud they are of their children. These are the moments I love to capture and share with everyone.

Chris was a dream to work with. He made scheduling easy and was helpful about good shoot locations. I was a bit uneasy as I had never done a photo shoot like this before. His suggestions were light-hearted and he made me feel quite good about myself. He made sure I got exactly what I was looking for plus had some terrific added-value suggestions. You will be very glad you chose him as your photographer.

Hired on Thumbtack

My husband and I decided to hire Chris for our holiday pictures this year. Having only hired a professional photographer for our wedding, I wasn't sure what to expect with Chris since his prices were so reasonable. I was more than pleasantly surprised with our experience. Before the session, Chris quickly responded to any questions I had and was professional in all his correspondence, even confirmed place, time and location (having hired a couple private contractors for house projects who were extremely difficult to contact, this was a welcome change). During the session, Chris listened to our (my) suggestions and thoughts and was so pleasant that the hour passed quickly. He took my initial thoughts on location and offered up some suggestions that turned out great in the pictures...he really had an eye for getting pictures we wouldn't have thought to even try. We gave Chris a challenge with a new baby and non-photogenic dog, but Chris somehow managed to find shots that made all of us look good. After the session, I was again amazed at how quickly he had the pictures ready for us to review. It was difficult deciding which pictures to choose because they all turned out great but we had a cute CD with the pictures at our house within two weeks of sending him our order. We now have plenty of time to get Christmas cards ordered and sent out thanks to Chris' excellent service. Chris has converted me from a person who doesn't use photographers for life events to someone who wouldn't hesitate to use his services again.

Chris was very professional. He was flexible about the weather and willing to take photos of my family on a cool winter day when all my kids were visiting for Christmas. We have 6 children, with three of them married and 2 grandchildren, so 13 all together and Chris had lots of great ideas for poses of our large family and for the smaller family groups. We had a great experience during our photo sessions with him.

We met with Chris this past Saturday for family photos. He did wonderful with our active toddler who decided after twenty minutes he was done with photos. By Tuesday night he had over 100 photos ready for us to browse through. Within a day of me telling him which photos I would like he had the cd in the mail to me. I will definitely be contacting Chris for family photos in the future.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The first thing that a customer should do, even before considering the cost, is to look through my galleries to see if they love the work I do. Then we can talk prices. The client should decide on either digital photos or prints and then choose a photo package. Once the package is chosen we will decide on a place and time to meet for the photo session. Payment is asked for up front on the day we shoot. You will receive a copy of the contract in an email that day. After about a week I will give you a link to your photos. You will then choose the ones you want and I'll send you the cd with your photos along with a print release form if requested. If you had ordered prints, the prints will be delivered within 2 weeks. Finally, I will ask if you'd write a review of my services.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I ended up purchasing an slr camera for an Alaska trip we took many years ago. Since I'm a gadget guy I ended up upgrading some of my equipment. Camera stuff is expensive, so after a few lenses and a new camera my wife told me that I was cut off unless I started making money at it. So I did. My good friend's mother is a wedding photographer and I had asked if I could tag along. I did so for about 7 weddings and then ventured off on my own.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Money isn't everything. If you're going to dress up, spend the time and money for a photographer, the last thing you want is mediocre photos. So it's important that you love the work they've already completed. Pay the extra amount to ensure great photos. But keep it in your budget, too.
