- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My father started in Real Estate when I was just a young man. I grew up around it, but didn't initially understand the benefit to others. I went on to become a professional commercial photographer with major clients such as: The Limited, DSW, Cardinal Health, Chase Bank, Huntington Bank, etc. It was a fun job and got to meet some great people and shoot some huge campaigns, a photographer's dream. After nearly 15 years as a photographer, I realized I wasn't truly helping anyone. As one of my mentors said early on, "we create landfill." In a sense, that was true. Our photos were meant to be used for a certain period and then disposed. I found through this process, though, that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. Some of the greatest moments in photography were when I photographed real people and sometimes their struggles. Through volunteer and commissioned work with Habitat for Humanity, The Furrey Foundation, Help Portrait, and Ohio WillowWood, I learned the deeper feeling of self-fulfillment. When seeking a career that I could do that would give me the same fulfillment from helping others, I didn't have to look far. For as long as I can remember, I would get stopped by people talking about my father and what it meant to them that he helped them purchase their first home, second home, or dream home. They were always so grateful for the guidance and often kept in touch with him as friends. Today, I carry that torch and my team has been carefully selected to follow the same footsteps.
