Susan paired our pup with a dog walker that was wonderful! When our usual gal was unavailable, Susan walked Murphy herself! I knew Murphy was in good hands when Susan requested to meet her first before coming to the house while we were gone to let her out. I would highly recommend Sit Stay Grow for house visit or pet sitting! We have done both and are very please with the cost and services!

Tim has been walking Arnie, our elderly Labrador Retriever, Monday through Friday for the past three years and doing a fantastic job. Initially it was, as Tim advertises, to burn off a little energy during the day and to give Arnie the opportunity to “take care of his business.” As time progressed and Arnie slowed down, Tim adjusted the visits to a short walk and just spending time with the old guy. There is no question that Tim truly cares about Arnie and vice versa. It’s a pleasure doing business with Tim and we look forward to continuing the relationship for some time to come. We think Ashley is attentive to our pets, conscientious, and very thorough. She texted every now and then and sent pictures of our dog while we were away. It is nice to find someone that can be so trustworthy! What a relief!

Natasha has done an amazing job with our first puppy Winston. My wife and I needed someone to help us with potty breaks and walks during the day while we were at work and we felt confident with Bart & Gabriel from the onset. We get update texts and pictures of our little guy whenever Natasha makes a visit and how he's doing everyday. She was excellent about accommodating our needs on short notice and going above and beyond in helping out when Winston was sick. I would highly recommend Bart and Gabriel to anyone in need of dog walking services.

Courtney has been walking our dog for over a year. I can't say enough great things about her! My dog is like my baby and I don't trust many people to watch him. I have always felt safe leaving him with Courtney who I know takes the best care of him. She has even helped to train him on their walks! She sends us updates ever time she sees him and I know he is having a great time. Courtney has been very accommodating and even watched our dog on overnights which he loved! She is truly the best!

Tory was able to take care of my elderly dog that required medication multiple times a day. She was patient and kind with him. She kept me updated with photos of Bentley while I was gone so I felt confident he was being well cared for. My house looked even better than I left it! I would recommend her to anyone.

Extremely professional, very loving with our dogs, patient and definitely go the extra mile. One of our dogs is very stubborn about going out in the rain. They went the extra mile to make sure our pets were able to do their business when it was pouring outside! Outstanding business, we will definitely be entrusting Purr and Paw Home Care with our pets each time we leave. Love that they can stay in the comfort of our home while we are away.

We are currently using Pawsitively Pampered Pets for daycare for our 8 month old pitbull, Atlas. Since Atlas is still a puppy, he needs to be entertained during the day so he will actually sleep at night. We were also looking to have him interact with other dogs during the day. Pawsitively Pampered Pets is just perfect for what he need. Initially, Amber invited us over to meet her, her husband, and her son prior to signing up for daycare. We also met the 3 resident dogs of the household and Atlas got to sniff around the house. When we dropped Atlas off the first time, he whined at the door and was so excited to go in. When we picked him up his tail was wagging and he seemed as happy as could be. Thanks Pawsitively Pampered Pets!

Do you have to bribe, threaten, or trick your dog into listening? Does your dog have to be shut away instead of enjoying life with you? Do you know your dog could be great, if only he wasn’t so wild and out of control? If your dog is barking, biting, chasing, running away, and in general ruining your life, we can help. If your dog listens when there’s nothing better to do, but does what he wants as soon as something more interesting comes along, we can fix that too. The worse your dog is today, the better he can be tomorrow.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
