My wife and I loved working with Harry. He took his time and help walk us through the process of a first time photo shoot. We had a blast and the photos just viewing from his camera was amazing!

Kelly has now been my photographer of choice for the past 7 years! As an actor, a head shot is such an important tool for the acting craft. Kelly's innate sense of capturing authenticity & personality while also being able to analyze the best angles for the most flattering photos is quite appreciated! Thank you, for the dozens of photo shoots, which have all been fantastic! Wishing for you the very best in your many future professional photography endeavors!

Doug Melvin Photography is a company I would highly recommend to everyone!!! Very kind staff and easy to work with. Accommodating to our needs, as we used their photo booth for Prom. They personalized the photo strips for our school and prom theme. We can't say enough positive things about them and will absolutely 100% being using them again next year!

I really enjoyed working with Nathan in his studio in Lewis Center. He helped me relax so he could get some excellent natural headshots that I could use for business cards and email signature lines. Nathan conveniently allowed me an evening appointment so I wouldn't need to miss work. The shoot took about 45 minutes and Nathan patiently allowed me three clothing changes. He shot photos with a variety of backdrop colors to give me many choices. I received an email with a link to a gallery of photos to choose from within 36 hours. After putting this off for a year, I now have several great photos that I can use. Nathan was very professional and still made the whole experience easy and fun! I highly recommend him!

Awesome Photos of my 1970 Olds 4-4-2 Convertible, yet Cory's personality is even better! Cory came to my house 3 times - brought the pix later the SAME DAY and then came over to help me w/ compression, downloading, and uploading. Exceptional service all around!

It was not just a photo shoot. It was a wonderful memorable experience my daughter will have. She felt like she was a super model. Dule and his wife are so compassionate about what they do. Everything was explained, they were fun and professional! I love the way the package is different from other high end photographers. THE VALUE is what counts. Oh and I’m writing this before even seeing the final photos. We saw unedited shots ( teasers) I called them that were stunning. Dule is an artist and he knew how to use the sunset and downtown lighting to really catch some amazing looks. His wife assisted with such cute poses that ranged from fun and carefree to sassy and oh La la. Thank you guys. I will definitely share photos here!

When I needed an eye-catching photo for my book cover, Brenda was the obvious choice. The idea of a cover shot was more than a little intimidating, but I trusted Brenda to guide me—and am so glad I did! The image we eventually chose was perfectly timed. It is definitely me—but it's me at a peak "Why can't I look like this EVery day?!" moment. Brenda caught me at my friendly, confident best (in many shots, actually) and gave us the personal, yet professional cover photo we needed. Brenda is technically and creatively excellent, but it's her intuitive ability to draw out the essence of her subjects that makes her images so captivating. Her easy demeanor and engaging personality make you almost forget there's a camera between you, and as you respond to Brenda, she captures one's ideal self. Not surprisingly, she is always my first recommendation to anyone needing a professional portrait. Her remarkable instincts on timing and in reading emotional stories has put her in high demand as a sports and event photographer as well!

We just got our engagement photos from Brett and his wife and they were great to work with! Completely open to our ideas/wishes, but lots of suggestions where we were unsure. They turned around our (high quality) photos quickly. We're so happy to have them photograph our wedding!

I contacted Richard regarding my son's senior pictures. My wife and I were very impressed with how professional, and friendly Richard was. He worked with us on scheduling, and shooting locations. After doing the job, he had the pictures edited, and presented them to us in only a few days. We could not be more happy with the results. They were better than we imagined. Richard is very talented, and quite reasonable with his rates. We have, and will continue to recommend him to our friends.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
