Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My students excel. Whether a student for a short period of time or long-term, my students come away with knowledge that will last a lifetime. Read the testimonials here, on Google, and on my website. Many students struggle with test taking in general, and others struggle with the difficulties they face as a consequence of online or hybrid learning. Whatever you or your child needs, I can help. My job is working myself out of a job. In other words, my “job” is to teach my students how to stand on their own as quickly and as effectively as possible. The funny thing about all of this is that—for me, anyway—this is not a job. It’s never has been a job. I love what I do. I hesitate to call it a “calling,” because that sounds hokey and a bit phony. That said, I love what I do and the students I am privileged to work with. I realize that parents are trusting me with their child’s success and future. I take that responsibility seriously, and I do everything I can to help “my kids” succeed. Again, please read the testimonials here and on my website. The letters are from students and parents, and they should tell you what you need to know about me and the results you can expect before you contact me. Once we meet (in-person or online) and discuss your requirements and goals and/or the requirements and goals of your child, we will map out a strategy that will work for you, whether you are contacting me for yourself or for your child (or a loved one). NOTE: During the coronavirus outbreak, Westside Tutoring & Testing Services is offering one-on-one, online test preparation and academic tutoring via Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom, primarily Zoom. Enrollment is limited, so contact me ASAP. I never take on more than 10-12 students at any one time, but I will do my best to make room for a student who really needs my help. When it comes to academic tutoring, my students routinely earn excellent grades (i.e., As & Bs), and when it comes to test preparation for entrance exams and proficiency tests, my students routinely earn top 1-2% (98-99th percentile) scores on the various high school, college, and graduate/professional school entrance exams. Whatever you decide, let’s talk before you make a final decision. I’m sure you will find your time well-spent. While I routinely work with students who have been diagnosed with learning difficulties, including ADD, ADHD, Asperger's syndrome, dyslexia and related reading difficulties, auditory and visual processing disorders, and many others, I accept all students. I also help students who struggle with test anxiety, study skills-related issues, time management challenges, and the like. I am proud of my track record and my students' long list of achievements—in and out of the classroom—from Secret Service Agents to teachers, professors, physicians, attorneys, engineers, accountants, CEOs, CFOs, small businesspeople, and many, many more. The success of Westside Tutoring & Testing Services’ academic tutoring and test preparation course students fuels my determination to help even more students succeed. Nothing I do provides more satisfaction than watching my students succeed, regardless of the student's current level or the subject matter involved. Once again, I love what I do and the students I work with, and I work with every student one-on-one, tailoring the student’s tutoring and/or test preparation to meet his or her precise requirements. In the end, my students always succeed. As the owner and founder of Westside Tutoring & Testing Services, I have been helping students achieve their education-related goals for 41 years (1980). Westside Tutoring & Testing Services specializes in one-on-one, individualized instruction. We focus on results, and I have worked with students of all ages and across a broad range of subjects. Westside Tutoring & Testing Services has been rated one of the top tutoring and test preparation services in Northern Ohio by CBS Online. Over the last 41 years, I have helped hundreds of students earn top 1-2% (98-99th percentile) scores on the ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, PSAT, PLAN (practice ACT), ACT, SAT (old & new), SAT Subject Tests, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, ASVAB, MCAT, and other high school, college/university, and graduate/professional school admissions examinations, as well as a myriad of work-related proficiency examinations. Contact me, John P. J. "Jack" Zajaros, Sr., Ph.D., for a FREE in-person or online consultation. I use Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype/Microsoft, whatever you preference happens to be. Thank you for your consideration!

Test Prep Services

Professor Z provided my son with outstanding, personal, and professional ACT tutoring services. His score went from a 23 composite to a 31 composite! And- he received a perfect score on the English section! If you are looking to increase your child's score, I highly recommend consulting with Professor Z. His rate is on par with other neighborhood tutoring services. The service pays for itself in the increase in merit awards from the colleges you are likely to receive as a result of the a higher score . My only small critique would be that sometimes communication on billing was not as good as I had hoped, and there was a lot of rescheduling of sessions due to illnesses. But, it all worked out in the end and we were beyond pleased with our son's scores after tutoring.
Westside Tutoring & Testing Services's reply
My Dad had a stroke in January of 2020, which set him back a bit, and then COVID-19 hit. The combination of the two threw us all off. It’s almost a year later, and all of our students have received the scores they had hoped for, Early Decision or Early Action admission to the colleges and universities of their dreams, and the vast majority have received sizable merit awards, as well. We are so very grateful for our students’ and their parents understanding while my Dad fought his way back. In the end, he was down for less than 2 weeks, and, while it did impact his ability to work the kind of hours he was used to putting in for a short period of time, he is back to almost 100% of his pre-stroke form. The success of students like Will and so many others has given him the inspiration to keep going, even when his doctors advised against continuing at his current pace. My Dad, Professor Z to “his kids, loves what he does and the children he is fortunate enough to serve. Seeing one student after another admitted to the colleges & universities of their dreams keeps him going. In fact, it keeps us all going! Thank you, Jack. You cannot begin to imagine how grateful our entire family is for the growth and confidence you have inspired in Conor. When we first came to you it was for help in preparing him for the standardized tests, but you led him in ways that we could not have foreseen. With your guidance he has figured out so much more than the preparation for the ACT and SAT, he has figured out what it means to be prepared for his school responsibilities and the time management demands those responsibilities need. He has completely turned himself around in school while and the same time did remarkably well on both his ACT and SAT. We had been trying in vain to get him to see that light for years, but after six months with you we are blessed with an entirely different student, and for that we have you to thank!!! His confidence has grown and as a result his grades have dramatically improved. You have proven yourself a great leader and an excellent instructor, and for everything you have done for Conor, and for our entire family, thank you Jack, you are the best!!!

ACT Tutoring

On August 26th, we enrolled our son Patrick at Westside Tutoring for assistance in preparing for the ACT standardized test. He previously scored 27 on the test back in April, with no preparation. So Patrick readily accepted tutoring assistance in order to possibly crack a 30. He began tutoring sessions on August 31st. Approximately 3 sessions per week, 90 minutes each in duration. With the ACT scheduled on October 22nd, I was a bit concerned that this would be enough time to really merit a significant improvement in his score. He's a senior now, so there is no more time to spend on testing. Especially with college admissions opening so early in the school year. It was make or break time. One more shot at the ACT! I'm pleased to report that Patrick scored a 32 composite on his most recent test. A FIVE point improvement! He gives Prof Z all the credit. I agree. I give them both credit. Prof Z for his expertise and guidance, and Patrick for his diligence while also handling a very challenging senior schedule. It was all worth it! My suggestion to parents is to get the SAT/ACT out of the way during your children's junior year, absolutely. Patrick was very fortunate it worked out for him, as there was so little time. Thank you Prof Z!

GRE Tutoring

I began working with Professor Zajaros this summer after I took the GRE and received an unsatisfactory score from studying on my own. I only had 5 weeks to prepare for retaking the test and Professor Z was able to quickly determine my strengths and weaknesses and come up with an effective, personalized plan to learn as much as possible in a short period of time. Professor Z did everything in his power to make sure that I was as ready as possible for the test and his encouraging words helped calm my nerves. Going into the test for the second time, I felt so much more prepared and confident. I ended up improving my score 9 points from a combined score of 293 to a 302! Professor Z is truly the most dedicated and kindhearted instructor that I’ve ever had. He went above and beyond to not only help me improve my GRE score but he also researched information on Occupational Therapy schools and is helping me write essays for admission into graduate school. My parents are so impressed with him that they plan on using him to help my little sister prepare for the ACT in a couple years. I cannot thank Professor Z enough for all that he has done for me!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We never turn students away. If the desire and the proper chemistry are there, we find a way to make it work. This is all we do, and we have been rated as one of Cleveland's "Best." We only take on a handful of students at any one time, but we do our best to make sure no one is turned away for financial reasons. Our students come first, always!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Once contacted, we set up a free consultation and assessment as soon as possible. Right from the start, our primary objective is to make sure we can help the prospective student excel. Once we meet, discuss the prospective student's goals, the timeframe we have to work with, and whether or not we have the right chemistry to work together, we set up a one-on-one program of instruction tailored to meet our new student's goals and requirements. We don't waste time! The sooner we begin, the sooner our students can move on with the rest of their lives. Ultimately, our job is to succeed in helping our students become successful and independent, thus eliminating the need for our services.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Westside Tutoring & Testing Services (WTTS) was founded by ex-university professor, National Science Foundation (NSF) Doctoral Fellow, and National Geographic-funded expedition member/researcher John P. J. "Jack" Zajaros, Sr, Ph.D. Professor Z has also been inducted into the Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology; Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society; and, the Golden Key International Honour Society. WTTS offers PhD-level, one-on-one tutoring in all subjects, at all levels. Westside Tutoring & Testing Services also offers high school, college, and graduate/professional school entrance examination preparation (ACT, SAT, GRE, LSAT, etc), along with academic and work-related proficiency test preparation.
