Very satisfied! Highly recommend! Jim was a pleasure. He was very professional and knowledgable. Did exactly what he said he was going to do and was very fair on pricing. Our project was a rotted exterior door frame. The rot had gotten down into the subfloor. Jim replaced the door, frame and subfloor and it looks and works great. I couldn't be happier! I will call on Jim for ANY future projects for our house and you should too!

Jon and Charlie installed two entry doors for me. One door was perfect, the other door needed some additional adjustments, which I didn't notice until after they had left. I simply picked up the phone and called to let Jon know that I had some concerns. There were no issues and no hesitation about returning to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction. He even purchased additional supplies (which were not charged to me) to make sure the job was done correctly. Every issue that I had was addressed and corrected. I tested things out before they left just to make sure we were good. I could see that It was important to him to make sure I was happy with his quality of work. If not, he was going to make sure that I was. He told me his work was guaranteed for a year and he would come back if I experienced any problems. I am delighted to say, I am happy with my new doors...and now checking around to see what else I can have him repair! Thanks guys!

Ed Davis did a great job installing my front window. Other window companies would not do such a small job. The price was reasonable and the quality of the work was great. Ed is the type of person that you can leave alone in your home while you go to work. Thanks Ed!

Mr. Riley was amiable, polite, easy to relate to, quick to fix all the small problems I had around the house; grouting, hanging two huge mirrors, electrical, plumbing in bathroom, front door lock, as well as hooking up my Bose radio wifi. He did great with time management; exhibited great craftsman skills and was tidy with his cleanups. It was a pleasure doing business with him and I plan to use him again for other projects.

Dave has done two jobs for us. He worked to remodel our basement by replacing the ceiling, and then painted the entire basement. His next project was to hang drywall in our garage. Both jobs were extremely well done. Dave's work ethic is amazing. I have never seen anybody work that hard and maintain his eye for detail. He also replaced our basement door which turned out to be a monumental task. Can't wait to get him back over here for our next project. Great worker and a great guy!!!

Seamless inspection! Don inspected my condo for a pending sale and provided a detailed report on items I wasn't even aware of. In addition, my patio sliding door had been catching and the glass seal was defective. Don offered an additional service of replacing it. No stress, no mess. Excellent job.

Mid Ohio did several jobs for me. The first project was a shadowbox fence which turned out wonderful the dogs love being able to run around. Our second project was a 30 x 40 pole barn including insulation, electrical, concrete floor, and a driveway. Do to the amazing job Trent and his guys done we went ahead with a couple of smaller projects inside the house. The flooring in the living room, dining room, foyer, back hall, pantry, kitchen, half-bath, and laundry room were changed out to engineered flooring that my dogs have yet to scratch. After the floors both bathrooms were done including tiling the walls, flooring, putting in a shower, lowering a tub that the previous owner had built up so high that I needed a step stool to get into it, both vanities, light fixtures, toilets, mirrors, painting, and both exhaust fans. All the flooring looks absolutely amazing and what we wanted. Last but not least one of the most important things when remodeling is that they cleaned up the mess and I didn't have to clean anything when they left. These guys are great and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality job.

Sam did an excellent job remodeling our basement. Including flooring, lighting, installation of French door, stonework on the bar, bathroom remodel and drywall repair. It's now my favorite room in the house! I spend the majority of my time in my basement. I highly recommend Sam for any of your remodeling needs. I trusted him in my home. He is neat and picked up after himself everyday. I'm a difficult person to please when it comes to remodeling and he exceeded and went past my expectations.

He ran into a huge issue when we discovered the door he was replacing was custom, not the standard size we measured...off by 1/2 ''. Unbelievably, he was able to fix the issue and we are extremely happy with the workmanship and his professionalism in dealing with it.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How does a locksmith open a locked door?

Locksmiths use specialized tools and techniques to open your door in the case of lockouts or lost keys. Trained locksmiths can pick your door lock with lock-picking tools such as a rake, a tension wrench, a half diamond or a hook. They may use a technique called bumping, which will work on pin tumbler locks, or as a last resort they may use a drill to remove your existing lock. The national average locksmith price ranges between $70 and $100. A locksmith can also replace your current lock system, re-key your locks if you have lost your keys, repair a broken lock, install a deadlock and more. Locksmiths not only help with front doors, they can help if you are locked out of your car, locked out of your mailbox, locked out of your shed … you name it. There may be an additional charge for emergency after-hours locksmith services. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have a deadbolt lock installed?

Installing a new deadbolt lock can improve your home security, especially if you think your current lock system has been compromised or there are unaccounted-for copies of your house keys in circulation. A professional locksmith can install a new deadbolt for you in a matter of hours. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Locksmith prices for installing deadbolts may be higher based on whether the professional provides the lock or you have it on hand, how many components the locking system includes, and how long the installation takes. The cost to purchase a lock yourself from a big-box store can range from approximately $70 to $225 or more, depending on quality and materials. Higher-security locks often take longer and therefore cost more to install.

How much does it cost to make a new key for a car?

Locksmiths’ prices for making new car keys can vary depending on the make of your car as well as the time of day and location. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100, but duplicating a key may cost as little as $30, while extraction a key stuck in the ignition, cutting a new key and programming the fob can cost much more.

You might need a new car key if you have lost your key, the key broke in the ignition, the key is bent or damaged, or you just want a duplicate in case of emergency. You can request a duplicate of a key you have on hand, or you can have a new key made or cut if you have lost your original car keys. If you need to replace lost keys, you’ll need to first provide proof that you are the owner of the car along with the vehicle identification number (VIN). If you’re just locked out of your car but don’t need a key made, a locksmith may charge $65 to get you back in. Locksmith car key services are often far more affordable than dealership prices for new keys.

How much does it cost for a car locksmith?

There are several reasons you may need a car locksmith. You may be locked out of your car (either with the keys inside or with no keys at all), you may have lost your car keys and need a new key, or you may want to make a duplicate car key. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Getting locked out of your car can be scary and overwhelming — especially if it’s cold and dark out. Fortunately, professional locksmiths provide round-the-clock assistance to help people in these circumstances.

Car lockouts are one of the main reasons people need a locksmith. Your locksmith’s price can depend on the type of car you have, the time of day (or night) it is, and where you are located. Locksmith pricing may be based on a flat rate, or pricing may be quoted to you after the locksmith determines the circumstances. For example, a flat rate for a car lockout could be $65 for standard vehicles. That price could be higher for after-hours or long-distance service, or service during extreme weather. If you have entirely lost your car keys, a locksmith can make you a new car key, but first they must verify that you are the owner of the car. Locksmiths can even program new car key fobs for you — often at a lower price than a dealership.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
