He came out to my house and gave me an estimate. Then he said for me to go to the city of Maple and get a permit. I told him that he needs to get a permit because he is the contractor, he kept insisting that I get a homeowner permit and it doesn’t protect me against his workmanship then he said he doesn’t feel comfortable doing the work if I don’t get the permit in my name. I have paid for a permit for the work i get on my house each time and i know how this works. Scam.

Thank you for your feedback. I’d like to clarify that I am not a general contractor and do not perform work that requires permits or involves electrical or structural changes. When I visited, the scope of the project expanded beyond simple shelving into work that may require permitting and licensed professionals. For that reason, I was not able to proceed and recommended following proper city requirements. My intention was only to be transparent and ensure that the work is done safely and in compliance with local regulations. I wish you the best with your project.
