Just like most of you reading this post, I scoured the interwebs for weeks trying to find a good trainer for our family rescue dog. Our dog was a good dog, but, he needed to learn some manners. He was just full of puppy energy and was starting to destroy personal items such as shoes and clothes. After reading up on Alegupk9, we took our American Bulldog / Pit mix to Jake for the three week board and train. Jake stayed in contact with us the entire time our Ramsey was with him and his approach to teach not just the dog, but, the humans as well was more than what other trainers offer in the area. We are three weeks after training and I can say I am happy with the results! I have gotten compliments from strangers about how well behaved he is when we have been in crowded and loud environments. Our dog no longer has destructive behaviors. And we communicate better. Does Ramsey listen all the time? No. Do we communicate effectively all the time? Probably not. But, that is the great part of it! Ramsey is still learning and we are still learning. The price of the training isnt just paying for a set amount of time / lessons... It pays for the end result of a happy and healthy relationship between owner and dog with clear and effective communication! My family is very grateful for Jake and his training program. He did a very good job with our Ramsey.

We adopted our dog Sky at age 10 weeks. She was a rescue and had no training. Due to her willful and dramatic personality, we determined she needed more in-depth training for behavior modification than a regular dog training course would provide. We chose the 3 week off-leash course with Jake at A Leg Up K9 for several reasons: his K9 law enforcement background, his previous customer reviews, his pricing for the course, and his overall demeanor and interaction when first meeting Sky. Leaving Sky with him for 3 weeks was a huge concession on our part as we are very protective of our dogs. However, Jake gave us an update once a week and when we went to pick up Sky we were thrilled with her overall persona change. She was healthy and obedient, although still a drama queen upon occasion. We would highly recommend Jake for training your dog. There are those who feel e-collar training is a negative way to train a dog, but it is actually a great way for a challenging dog to become obedient and respectful. We are continuing follow up lessons with Sky and Jake, and we are very happy with the training Sky received!

I am so fortunate to have found A Leg up K9. Elvis is a year old Pitbull. He is a very loving and full of energy boy. He was having some behavior problems. Jacob came to our house for an assessment. I took him for the 3 week training and it was the best decision I have ever made. When I went to pick him up after training Jacob explained everything that we needed to do when we took Elvis home. He answered every question and had hands on training with my husband, 2 teens and myself. He is truly the most professional and responsible trainer I have ever meet. He is very knowledgeable and has Elviss best interest at heart. I dont regret taking him and learning the new way of life that we have. If I had to do it over again it would not be a question. We are almost 3 months in and the change in Elvis is remarkable. I highly recommend A Leg Up K9!

We left our 7 mos old yellow lab Sophie with Jacob and left for vacation and came home to a new dog. I am writing this 8 mos later and will say she is as good today as the day we got her back. We have stuck with the program as well as staying firm with her, but the hard work was already done. Unfortunately she had surgery on her knee a couple of mos ago and needed 10 weeks of bedrest and if not for the training, our lives would've been much different during that time. She is a confident, intelligent dog and we hardly have had any problems at all. Any issues w digging or getting on the couch can be blamed on us for taking our eye off the ball (keep their collar on!). All in all i could not recommend jacob enough everything was professional, top notch and more than worth it. We did the on and off leash training fyi.

Jake has been fantastic to work with. We have an almost 1 year old Doberman who really needed to learn some manners. He was (is) not a bad dog by any means, but he just lacked common respect and manners that we once thought we could teach him on our own. He did not listen to mom very well, but would listen to dad when he felt like it. Jake has rectified all concerns we had prior to Wesley's training. When we brought Wesley home after his three weeks, we were pleasantly surprised with the changes that were made. He now listens to every command from both my boyfriend and myself. When we find ourselves with a question, we always reach out to Jake and get a response almost instantly. The training has been a learning process that is so worth it. There is a new level of peace in our house that I didn't know was possible. I'm grateful to have stumbled upon A Leg Up K9.
