Wow! Cesar and his crew have transformed my landscaping from overgrown weeds to a spectacular garden oasis! Cesar was the first to respond to my original request and came out the same day to provide me with a very reasonable estimate. I am very meticulous about work done and he far exceeded my expectations. So impressed I am hiring them to do weekly maintenance! Highly recommend them—you will not be disappointed!

I liked Geremy immediately. I told him what I wanted for my years-neglected yard, we walked around and he knew every plant hidden in the weeds of the former gardens. He gave me good advice and took care of what I needed. Now I have clean garden beds, trimmed shrubs, and trees that were growing in the garden transplanted to better locations. Geremy then told me what my newly repaired gardens need next, and I hope to be able to do that myself. We'll see! They did the entire job in one day for a good price. Next year, I plan to call him to clean up another long neglected area of the yard. I just cannot do it all at once. I would absolutely not hesitate to call him.

Julie started working for me cleaning house in 2004. Over the years she has not only become my domestic assistant but my personal assistant as well. There appears to be no bounds to her capabilities to keep a clean and well organized home. She has really great decorating ideas as well. Not only that, she is an excellent cook and has helped with dinner parties. Plus she assists me with some of my business matters. She takes care of my home and garden and runs errands when I am out of town and away for the winter. Julie is completely trustworthy, reliable, creative, hardworking, and has a great attitude. I enjoy Julie’s companionship. She has a delightful personality and has become a close friend to our family. I cannot recommend a better more well-qualified person as a domestic and personal assistant (I just don’t want to lose her). Hope Lomas

Mike Meros and his partner responded to our lawn care needs right away. I was contacted back immediately, and they drove across the city to give me a quote that very weekend. I received a quote within a couple of days, and the work was scheduled for the following weekend. The work was done quickly and all ends were wrapped up nicely. We were happy to have met Mike and his team, and will be receiving future quotes for work this coming spring. Thank you for helping us to make our house more of a home! Your enthusiasm for restoring our gardens and creating a better atmosphere is inspiring!

I have worked with Rosalie for the past almost 10 years at the Cleveland Orchestra Store and the Blossom Bandwagon Gift Shop where she has helped me set up the store displays each month as new products arrive and also do a large display window for me on a regular basis. Her attention to detail is amazing and she has the ability to make aging inventory look great and interesting by constantly changing around our display areas as new products arrive. It is very challenging at times especially when we get closer to the holiday season and there are multiple trees to decorate and we have a set theme for each one. I cannot tell you how many compliments we receive on our lovely displays and her skills at organizing and coordinating each are a true testament to her eye for design and creativity. I cannot say anything negative regarding working with her and would strongly encourage anyone who is looking for a perfectionist to contact her right away. She is amazing!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
