I hired Amy to help me design a remodel of my house. tying in new flooring and interior paint with the other elements of the house that were to remain unchanged. Amy was very easy to communicate with. Amy created a binder with design options...in a way that was very clear and easy for me to pick the final look. I haven't done the project yet, but I've shown the options to family and friends and everyone loves it! I can only imagine awesome my house will look after it's done.Jun 23, 2017Verified
Thanks, Amy. You are the best! It just wasn’t working for me! I had grown weary of the décor in my small townhouse, but never considered seeking the support of an interior designer because of my fear that he/she would create my space according to his/her tastes and make recommendations that I could not afford. I do not enjoy shopping (don’t judge) and it is difficult for me to determine if what I like in the store will translate well to my home. I languished in a swivit of indecision for months. Then an angel appeared: Enter Amy Gordon. Amy, in her quiet, hardworking, observant way, addressed all of my concerns and created not only an aesthetic space but she was very practical about it. Her innate ability to understand my preferences and design style – that I didn’t even know I had – was uncanny. Actually, now I sometimes get up a little earlier to allow myself time to sit quietly and bask in the beauty Amy created for me.Sep 20, 2017
Amy was very professional and easy to work with. She listened to all ideas that I had and worked these all into her design. I was very satisfied with the plan and ideas that she presented.Jul 12, 2017Verified
I'd give a hundred stars if I could!! I purchased Amy's design consultation service and she's gone far and above what I feel I paid for. She was able to assess my style and vision and bring it to life. She's able to see details and colors that others don't. She knows instinctively what will work -- even if you don't immediately see it. It's her gift. She's easy to work with; flexible and really loves what she does. And as a person you couldn't find anyone better. She will definitely be coming back as i continue to work on other rooms!Nov 22, 2013Verified
I can not say enough wonderful things about working with Amy! I moved into an older 5000 square foot home in Lewis Center that needed completely remodeled and she helped with every detail to help me and my family create our dream home! Together we decided on a timeless country estate theme. We started by choosing all of the paint colors for each room and light fixtures from chandeliers, sconces, ceiling fans and canned lighting. She shopped with me at multiple stores for furniture, countertops, backsplash, flooring, and carpet. She worked around my schedule to meet with me many times and provided me with multiple options for rugs, furniture, lamps, mirrors, art, bedding, buffets, tables. I made all the large purchases and she personally shopped for the smaller Knickknacks and Decor to include throw pillows, items for my built in book shelves, centerpieces, etc. She is also an artist and did a beautiful had painting in our powder room to really give it that one of a kind feel. My husband and I could not be happier! She is so personable and friendly. When meeting with designers before we decided to move forward with her I liked that she met with me free of charge, and provided base pricing for each room, rather than an hourly rate like many other designers. She is passionate about her work and puts in the time and effort to make sure you are in love with all of the selections. She made the process easy, fun, and affordable. I would recommend her to anyone who wants some assistance in a sprucing up a room or in my case an entire home. Anyone who has seen my home is so impressed with what she has done and I have given her contact to many people that I know personally. She really is the best!!Jul 5, 2018Verified
- What types of customers have you worked with?I most commonly work with my clients to update their home, often incorporating many of their existing "treasures" into the design, showing their furnishings to the best advantage. Then we often add pieces for a complete and exciting look. I also love showcasing clients' own art and accessories in "fresh" groupings or placement, making them feel like new again. I also give them color palette options - sometimes just a new wall color will dramatically improve the look of their home! I have also worked with "new build" customers, helping them design their entire home from beginning to end, creating flow throughout. I love talking with my clients to determine their wants, desires, and how they function on a daily basis in their home - that's why I say Amy Gordon Design combines flair with function!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work? When hiring a design professional, it is important that they really listen to you! You want a designer that works with YOU in mind, not one who is pushing their own agenda and style. Great designers will work with you to create a space that fits your personality and needs, while giving you guidance, resources, and exciting ideas in the process! Often a designer will be spending some time in your home - you want them to be respectful, you want to be comfortable with them (a good "fit") and you want someone you can trust to maintain your privacy. When I am invited into someone's home, I consider it a privilege and just like an attorney or doctor, I take confidentiality very seriously! Many of my clients have been referred to me by their friends or colleagues. I make it a rule NEVER to discuss other clients' information. Finally, be aware that "free" designers offered through home furnishings stores are paid through commissions, often suggesting higher priced furnishings and decor.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?Hiring an interior designer can actually save you money. As an experienced designer, I help you avoid costly mistakes and also know where to get the best deals on furniture and accessories! If you have photos of rooms you like, this helps me better pinpoint your design style. Thinking about your needs and desires prior to the initial consultation helps.
