I brought Sears Handyman out to repair a leaky window, and fix the damaged drywall beneath it. They sent someone out to estimate the cost first. He didn't seem overly knowledgeable about the repairs needed, and didn't mention anything about mold being an issue. I told him it had been leaking for some time, and I would assume there would be mold in the wall. He didn't mention any issue with that. A week later, when they actually sent someone out, the guys fixed the caulk around the window, but when they started to pull the drywall off to repair and found mold, they said they aren't allow to work on anything moldy. I ended up paying $100 for two guys to caulk my window, which is a bit outrageous. I could have caulked the window myself for the cost of a tube of caulk.

So, if you're looking for a small business owner to come do a great job and not screw you over (and I think Thumbtack is generally full of people like this) do NOT choose Sears Handyman.
