As a non-profit organization that grants wishes to seniors citizens, we work with dozens and dozens of photographers all over the country. Chris did an awesome job capturing the essence, the smiles and the joy that our wish recipient and her mother experienced being reunited after 20 years. The pictures he took were of superior clarity, quality and creativity. From his responsiveness in communication, to the speed at which he got the photos back to us, we were very pleased with Chris, his professionalism and expertise. We would not hesitate to recommend Chris to anyone looking for a stellar photographer and hope to partner with him again in the future. ~Wish of a Lifetime

I’ve had family portraits and my wedding photos done by Casalandra Photography and in both settings I was blown away by how he was able to capture my family in such a beautiful way. He is easy going, but guides you through the process. He captures beautiful posed photos, but also beautiful candid moments that most photographers would miss. I highly recommend and will use him for all of my future photography needs.

Jasmine did a birth story of my sweet baby Lilliana, she honestly couldn't have made us any happier with the photos she took. My delivery went fast, and it was pretty last minute on my part, she showed up and took the most beautiful, memorable pictures a mother could hope to have of the delivery of her baby. These pictures are ones we will cherish for the rest of our lives. No amount of money could ever replace them. We are so thankful for her, and will be hiring her again in the near future. I recommend her, without a doubt!!

Dennis Mong's passion for photography shines through in every photo he snaps. He is a complete professional to work with, and you will not be disappointed with the photos he delivers. I used Dennis for a photo shoot for a young, sixteen-year-old author who was new to having her picture taken. He guided her through the entire process, and she came back to me later and said: "The shoot went amazing and the photographer and his wife were perfect and super sweet. Thank you so much for setting everything up - you definitely went with the right people! :)" I couldn't recommend Dennis more. Note: His wife also does hair and makeup, and she's great at it! Just another reason to go with Dennis Mong Photography.

We hired Lisa for my son’s one year old birthday party on Saturday 30th December,2017 for 3 hours in Hermitage, PA. We cannot say enough great things about her. She is definitely flexible/ accommodating. We contacted her an hour and a half before the birthday party as the photographer we originally scheduled cancelled last minute b/c of the snow that day. She was able to fill in last minute and for that we are very appreciative. She was very professional and personable at the same time. She captured those real life moments with her camera. I am not a camera expert but her camera set-up is definitely the most expensive when I have compared to other photographers. Her eye for a great photo and her equipment and editing capabilities made for photos that my family will cherish forever. I would definitely recommend her to my friends/ family and would use her again for any special events. Thanks Lisa for making sure our memories were captured. Her photographs made everyone look great in them :-)

Phil went out of his way to make the best product for our wedding. A true gentleman and great to work with from months before our ceremony. He captured all of the best moments, had us get the great poses and all of the on-the-fly events. Phil used amazing lighting sources for our indoor night scenes. His pictures are all so rich in color as the quality of the lenses he uses is outstanding. He has a talented eye for composition. My wife and I were dazzled by the amazing photos. Phil did the job of at least 2 photographers being everywhere and having different lenses for the different effects. He really cares and put his heart into his work. Thank you for such wonderful memories of our wedding!!!

Tia has been my favorite person to photograph my family because I know, and it shows, that she genuinely wants to be there. To know that I’m not just a number to her means a lot in my experience w/her and trust her ability to do her best. Will work with again.

It can be difficult working with photographers getting commercial retail photographs since our marketing department has very specific needs. Matthew was very attentive to our requests and even went back to get more shots for us.

Marc shot a series of "knolling" pictures for our medical supply business. Marc was very professional, did the extra work to make sure the photo shoot went off without a hitch. He did a great job and the images turned out wonderfully!

I enlisted John Aylward to take photographs of me holding a plastic zombie chicken on a couch with a chair on it, with a painting of goats in the background. I chose him because he is excellent with colors and space, as well as being creatively open-minded, and he definitely delivered. Not only did he take outstanding photos, but he also edited them in high-resolution to look even better. During the shoot, he offered suggestions such as talking to the chicken or sitting certain ways on the couch, and moved around props like a chess board to ensure the fung-shui lined up properly. I was lucky enough not to Be charged for his work, but I imagine he will be paid quite a bit for his photography talents in the future. Good luck John and thanks! -Zaq Pariah, music person

About

We refuse to refer to those we photograph as "clients". To us, you're more than that. Each bride and groom, along with their families, are our friends. We spend too much one on one time with our couples to even consider them as just clients. Often times, we spend evenings with them laughing over dinner. We catch ourselves counting down the days until their wedding and spending hours planning, organizing and dreaming with them. We started photographing weddings hoping to inspire and leave a positive mark on someone. However, if there's one thing we've learned over the years, it's our friends who have inspired us. It's our friends who have brought so much happiness and positivity into our lives. We will forever be thankful for all past, current, and future friends. You're what keeps us going. No two couples are the same and no two weddings are the same. However, one thing they all have in common is one thing--a story. We love watching it unveil and capturing it all for it to be told again and again. We don't create the moments, we capture them as they happen. Beauty is such a natural thing, and can be found in the simplest of details. It's everywhere we look. Our goal is to capture everything from the smallest to the biggest moment in a bold but classic way. Our goal is to provide you with images that you never get tired of, and that you'll proudly showcase, even 50 years from now. Along with capturing beautiful images, we also believe you deserve a superior experience. Not just a superior photography experience, though. We make sure we help our friends plan and organize an incredible wedding and provide advice and tips to prevent as much chaos and stress as possible.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Where is the best place to take baby pictures?

Baby pictures are among the most popular types of portrait photography, and most newborn photographers are well versed in the best places to take baby pictures in their local areas. Some newborn photographers will come to the hospital to shoot the baby within a day or two of birth, while others have set up their studios to accommodate the needs of infants. Some parents prefer to have the newborn photographer come to their home or travel to a favorite park or other outdoor location. Like any portrait photography, the best place to take baby pictures is the place you like best and that will yield the types of photos you want of your baby, whether that’s posed and carefully lit studio portraits or spontaneous, casual photos at home. Work with a local newborn photographer to find a safe, calm location with great lighting and some privacy for your family.

How much does baby photography cost?

Portrait photography provides parents with lasting images of the first whirlwind months of a newborn’s life. The cost varies based on several factors, including the length and location of the session, the number of photos provided, and the amount of editing and retouching the photographer does. The national average cost for baby photos is $150-$200. Some baby photographers charge by the number of photos provided, typically ranging from an average of $299 for 20 high-resolution edited photos, to an average of $399 for 35 photos, to $499 for all of the images taken in a single session. Props and location affect the cost, too; an elaborate studio shoot with props and professional lighting may increase the cost to $600-$700 for 20-50 photos. Adding a second location or asking the photographer to travel can add $70-$250 to the cost of the session. Photographers may also charge extra fees for providing additional photos and DVDs, scheduling weekend sessions, and shooting siblings. Expect to pay at least a $50 deposit when you book a portrait photography session.

When should you take newborn photos?

Few styles of portrait photography are as tricky as newborn photos — the unpredictable infant is always in charge! The best way to ensure a successful photo shoot is to work with a local newborn photographer within the first two weeks of the baby’s life. Some photographers even work with hospitals to offer newborn sessions within a day of the baby’s birth. But newborn photographers usually recommend scheduling a shoot during the baby’s first two weeks of life, while the baby is still sleepy and relatively cooperative, especially for posed or studio shots. During this time, babies are easier to swaddle in blankets and dress in hats or headbands, and, because they often nap or nurse, can be staged with various props or be cuddled by their parents. For casual photos, most newborn photographers recommend shooting within the first six weeks of a baby’s life. Lifestyle portrait photography is more flexible and doesn’t require the baby to cooperate with multiple poses or props.
