FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I am a horse and pet owner myself. I know how hard it is to find some one who is willing AND able to care for my animals in the manner I wish them to be cared for. I have missed out on a great many weekend get-a-ways because I didn't want to impose on friends, or didn't feel that volunteers were qualified to care for a horse should it become injured or sick. That got me thinking. I just knew there had to be other people in the same situation. I was right.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking for a pet sitter, look for someone with references, someone who is bonded & insured, a member of a pet sitter organization, and someone who is capable of handling an emergency. In my case, I have taken cat & dog first aid and CPR. I also own my own horse trailer should a horse have to be moved in an emergency such as an evacuation or illness. Most of all you should find a pet sitter who is confident in all situations that gets along well with you and your pets.
