Linda performed theraputic massage for me. After a life of contact sports and a couple of motorcycle accidents, I had some pains and kinks that needed worked out. After only a couple of appointments, she had me diagnosed and solved my issues rather pleasantly with little or no pain through her techniques. She kept them at bay by periodic return appointments.

I have to admit, at first I was apprehensive. But, after the first session with Rick I was floored! I love the way he makes you work for your goals, ( even if you didn't have any) he is one of the top personal trainers I've ever been to. If you want to work, and feel the burn. He's your man!

Roderick is great! He has pushed me to do things I never thought I was capable of. He is more than a personal trainer. He is a coach and a friend. The workouts may be tough but I leave feeling great every day. I had self image issue before hiring a trainer and Roderick has always made me feel nothing but comfortable. I highly recommend, especially if your focus is weightloss.

Eric is knowledgeable, compassionate professional. My experience with personal trainers in the past left me a bit leery but he put me at ease instantly. He will challenge but not overwhelm you, and make sure you understand what you need to do and WHY to progress quickly and steadily. If you want to improve your health but don't know where to start -- or are a little intimidated by personal trainers who think you should already be in shape before you come to them -- Eric's style of training will be a welcome relief for you. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone as he tailors your training to YOU, not to a form from a book that says you should do this, that or the other. Call him. You will be glad you did.

Linda worked with me when I felt stuck at a dead-end job that lacked any personal fulfillment. She was able to see potential in me and we worked together to identify my strengths and areas where I excelled. Under her guidance, I decided to continue my education and finish the degree I had started several years prior. I now work at a job I love and feel a great sense of satisfaction and personal accomplishment. I can honestly say I would not have attained this career achievement without her. I would highly recommend her coaching services to anyone who feels they are stuck in a rut or are unsure of the next steps to take in a career path or even on a personal journey. Linda has a brilliant way of lending perspective and drawing out the best in people. That is what she did for me and I will always be grateful for her help.

I had the pleasure to pratice yoga and meditation under Mo for about a year and a half. I would schedule my classes with Monique purposely because I always left feeling better then when I got there and in time I was able to start seeing positive changes everyday, makeing me happier and easy going. She is like the sun everyday, bright, cheerful and inviting every time you see her. I have been looking for her and I am so happy that I found her, because I really need to bring that balance back into my life and she is the only onethat can achieve that for me. She knows her stuff and is very understanding and her passion for yoga and meditation. She is inspiring!

Chris is an excellent Physical Fitness Trainer! He is very professional and very knowledgeable! He utilizes his previous body building knowledge to educate his clients. He also applies his kinesiology knowledge to maximize his clients training sessions. I have never been athletic and have learned more about weight lifting and fitness from him than any other trainer that I have ever trained. Other trainers have left me looking anorexic and ill looking, but I have experienced very positive results training with Chris. I now feel like I belong in the gym. I am very fortunate to have a trainer that is compassionate about his profession and is willing to pass on his knowledge to me to become healthier and a better weight lifter. He has pushed me to lift weights at volume that I would have never imagined. If you want a trainer that can assist you with your physical fitness goals from losing weight, toning, and/or to body building, Chris is your ultimate Trainer!

I was diagnosed with clinical depression shortly after high school. I was told a chemical imbalance in my brain was the reason why I felt tired all the time and would sleep for days and days missing work and school. I was told depression was the reason I lost jobs every few months and was so angry I was getting in fistfights about as often. I was told there was something wrong with me that needed to be fixed, but nothing worked. I felt hopeless that I would never be free from my condition to accomplish great things. I thought I was going to be alone and angry the rest of my life, asking "why me?" when bad things happened and "why not me?" when good things happened to others... I lived in this condition for more than ten years. Now, since I have received one-on-one personal coaching from Allan Hendrickson I was able to talk with him about the things that we're happening in my life and the feelings I was dealing with. Allan has an unparalleled ability to understand where feelings come from and the emotions associated with thoughts. Along with his ability to decipher the communication between emotions and thoughts is his ability to empower you with the knowledge to become aware of the negative thoughts that trigger negative emotions and how to handle them. Allan Hendrickson gave me the knowledge, showed me how to apply it, and empowered me to confidence that I could accomplish great things and create my life just the way I want it! I am in a constant state of transformation... Where once there was hopelessness, there is now certainty and confidence. Where once there was lack, there is now abundance. Where once there was fear of solitary and anger, there is now peace and clarity, togetherness and love for myself and everyone all together. I recommend Allan Hendrickson to anyone who has ever experienced suffering or who would like to improve the circumstances of their life.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.
