We moved 45 years worth of stuff including several very large tool boxes, furniture, 160 boxes and a gas tank from a twin engine airplane, down to OKC frim Denver by ourselves and rented two huge storage units. Lived in a 5th wheel for 6 months while looking for a home in Alabama. Once we found a house we decided to hire movers. Googled and found NL Movers. Nick came the next day, looked at all our stuff and scheduled our move for five days later. Two 26 foot trucks and four men. They got here on time and finished unloading in 5 hours. Polite, efficient, hardworking and a pleasure to be around. Highly recommend this company. Thanks guys!

Great experience. I made a request around lunchtime, the job was completed by mid-afternoon. Great company with a great cause. The young men were very polite and offered several times to help me finish arranging my living room furniture, etc.

They were very prompt and concerned about the care of my belongings. Did some extra things and actually gave me ideas for arranging furniture in my new home. Kind and professional! Best move ever.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
