FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to sit down and look at pictures or talk about what they are wanting from the service before I even touch their face. I also walk through during the service explaining what I am doing and why I am doing it, as well as asking questions about different features they want to emphasize and what they want to minimize.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working in a salon for about 4 months now and I have a license for hair styling and makeup. The difference between my license and a cosmetology license is that mine is a focus in makeup with no hair cutting or coloring. I spent 5 months of my 7 months in school learning different techniques for makeup application and sanitation.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mom never really learned how to do hair so I had to learn how to do it on my own and I immediately knew I wanted to be a hair stylist. I started doing my older sisters hair for events and soon I started doing makeup too! I fell in love with makeup and its ability to transform people. I went to college and after a month I decided to get my cosmetician license at the same time. It was 7 months of night classes along side university classes. And now I get to do the thing I love!
