FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Quite often clients want a bid before hand. I do this all the time and am okay with doing it one of 2 ways, either by room count or by square footage. Please keep in mind that it is difficult to accurately price something sight unseen and I take the risk in doing so but I do it for the convenience to my clients. *Room count; Typical room size is up to 10x12. most living or family rooms are much larger and generally count as 2 rooms. I include the closet in each room unless it is a very large closet larger than 10x10 or 100 square feet. Small hallways I usually don't count or I will just count 1 room to include all hallways. Large or really long hallways will count as a room. *Stairs; $2.50 per step, each landing is 1 step. *Square footage; Whole house/move-in/move-out clean = measure square footage of all carpet areas. multiply by $.34 *Cleanable space; when not cleaning an empty house (leaving all heavy furniture in place and only moving accessories off the floor) measure only the cleanable square footage, usually walkways, open spaces, etc.. multiply by $.34 *Total clean in a lived in home; When required to assist or completely remove all furniture off of the carpet and replace after cleaning (this includes dressers, beds, large couches and large tables, etc...) I either need help from a strong customer or need to bring an assistant. Multiply Total carpeted area square footage by $.44 *carpet patching/stretching/repair is billed at $75/hour *Stain work; Keep in mind that most stains actually come up with regular cleaning. If you would like me to focus on any particular stain that won't come up with regular cleaning then I need to charge for that. $35 per stain and I cannot guarantee total removal. *Deodorization; call for quote.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A woman called me who was going to the hospital to pick up her daughter and bring her home. Her daughter had leukemia and treatment and hadn't been home in a long time. The treatments made her weak and sensitive to everything. It made me happy to know I was doing my best to make sure that a little girl was coming home to a clean, safe environment. Her mom was so worried and financially stressed that I just said it's on me and left without billing her.
