Owners will experience the benefits of this unique training style. Dogs learn all the skills they need to make them good companions. Training takes place in downtown Bend and on local trails. Dogs spend the day visiting our local parks, shops, and other areas. Dogs are trained for a minimum of 30 minutes three times a day, four days a week for three weeks. Your dog attends school Monday through Thursday. Owners receive three half-hour private sessions to see their dog's progress and learn how to use the skills their dog has learned. After the first lesson, you are an active participant in the program. Handling lessons are given at the end of each week. Exercises covered in our basic course include heel and automatic sit, sit-stay, down-stay, and come. Your dog will work on a 6 foot leash and 15 food lead and is expected to work around distractions such as other dogs, traffic, squirrels and joggers. Your dog becomes familiar with trips to the groomer, crate training, socializing with people and dogs, walking on trails and being comfortable in different environments. This includes being relaxed and happy in a boarding facility. You learn how to use your training tools to work with problems such as barking, jumping, digging or destructive behavior.

Linda West is a highly specialized and experienced dog trainer. I came to her initally having agression problems with my dog. She made valuable and correct assessments that prevented further dangerous situations. With another very stubborn dog, she made training so easy I couldn't believe it! I had tried doing these things on my own, then with 2 "economy" trainers. After just 15 minutes with Linda, I was elated. Linda's easy-to-follow and professional guidance made working with this stubborn dog really fun. I found the other trainers inconsistent and guessing. Linda, however, is knowlegable, consistent and very reliable. From being a client over the years I came to see some of the dogs with serious aggression she helped. I am still amazed when I think of the change in these dogs. If you've got a dog who has major aggression, a slight issue, or you just want the best basic training, Linda is your best resource in Bend. She is safe, consistent and knowlegable. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dog.

After spending $$$$ with other professional dog trainers and not learning much, I decided to take my leash aggressive dog to Linda West. I found her method of training to be easy to follow and best of all fun. True, I have had a lot of obedience training experience so I knew that if I was to be successful, I would have to practice what my dog and I were taught during class sessions. I was taught simple little "games or tricks" to get my dog to concentrate on me during an encounter with a target. I learned how to remain calm and confident in my ability to be in control of my dog. Her instructions have helped me to enjoy our dog walks so much more. We work on our "games" every day and I find that my dog is so much calmer when I ask her to perform what we have learned from Linda's class. Thank you Linda

Linda, I can't thank you enough for succeeding in changing Bella's attitude. We rescued Bella (my 86 lb Black and Tan Coonhound) from the Humane Society a little over 2 years ago. She was dumped by her prior owners at about 1 year old because "she was too much to handle." And, I have to admit, she definitely has been a challenge! She has a sweet disposition and is not aggressive, but had no impulse control and was very reactive in new situations. Bella has changed a lot over the last 2 years with all the classes we have taken, but yours really got her to turn the corner. Your techniques and knowledge would work with any dog, but your intimate knowledge of the hound personality was particularly helpful because you taught me what is possible to change about Bella's behavior and what is not. Bella and I are about to begin our second class with you -- as far as I'm concerned, this is frosting on the cake. After just 1 session in the first class, Bella was off the pinch collar (which I had been using for nearly 2 years) and on the gentle leader without pulling my arm off when I walk her! She's much calmer, and I think she's much happier not being so reactive to strange people, sounds, and dogs. Your desensitization strategy really works! Now my best buddy and I CAN and do go everywhere together.

I had trouble with my dog lunging and growling when I had him on leash. I didn't like to walk "Bruno" in public because he made such a racket when he saw other dogs. It was embarrassing. After six weeks of private lessons with Dogs Ltd I am able to take "Bruno" with me when I go places and not be embarrassed.
