FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Whenever possible I provide a clear fixed-price quote and stick to that agreement. For smaller projects or work with more unknowns, I may recommend hourly billing ($65/hour) or a cost-plus approach, which can give clients better control over costs as the project develops.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by learning as much as possible about the project—usually through photos and a brief conversation about the problem, the goals, and any constraints the client is working with. From there I’ll either provide an estimate remotely or schedule a site visit to look more closely at the work. Once the scope is clear, I outline the recommended approach and pricing so the client can decide how they’d like to proceed. Every project is a little different. Sometimes speed is the priority for an urgent repair, while other projects benefit from a more careful planning process. My goal is always to ask the right questions early so we can move efficiently toward a solution that works well for the client and the home.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My training began early—I grew up around home renovation and construction, learning the trade from my father and the builders he worked with. Over the past 20+ years I’ve continued that education through hands-on experience and mentorship from architects, project managers, and professional builders. I’ve worked under experienced tradespeople in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, framing, finish carpentry, painting, and concrete flatwork and forming. This broad background helps me understand how different systems in a home interact, which is essential for solving problems and planning durable repairs. I have also completed the general contractor training process and consider myself a lifelong learner, always interested in improving my craft and exploring new building methods and technologies.
