Michael and his son came to clean our carpet. They did such an awesome job. We had bad air filtration stain on our carpet in the entire house. They cleaned them so well. Our carpet looks like new now. Michael is so knowledgeable and very humble. We are very very happy with the result. He is very honest and very reasonable. We strongly recommend him.

Arturo and his wife have cleaned two homes for me. The first was a post remolding job. They actually came in on that job to replace the first crew who were not doing a good job and brought their kids with them. They did a great job, one little issue but came back to correct it no questions asked. Because of their great work we hired them to come clean a house we bought that had a heavy smoker living in it. Every square inch had to be cleaned with special chemicals before painting. After repairs were made to the house, painting and new carpet they returned to do a finial cleaning. We will call Arturo and his wife for future work.

Steve was able to come early to accommodate my schedule. He was thorough, professional, and fast. Only thing that didn't come out of the carpet was a stain that looks like rust that other cleaners had tried unsuccessfully to remove in the past.

He was prompt for the job. Unfortunately, he couldn't get a coffee stain out of the carpet, but that might need an alternate solution or is just a lost cause. Otherwise, the carpet looks great!

Amelia was a pleasure to work with. She gave a quote and stuck with it. In addition to cleaning the various counters, blinds, windows, and bathrooms, she was able to clean the carpets. We discussed a price for the carpet cleaning in addition the house cleaning and that never changed. She and her son spent a long time making sure everything was taken care of. They were able make the house feel like it was new again and ready for a family to move in, not a former bachelor pad.

These guys did an absolutely terrible job on the drywall. Overspray everywhere, wavy seems, terrible texture and horrendous patch work. And to top that off he has refused to fix any of it. If you are considering using these guys, do yourself a favor and walk away.

Although Brian i believe your rates are low for all the additional spot treatments you applied, but that said this separates your from 99% of oregon carpet cleaners. Sergio was professional and did a great job! Would highly recommend. He came in and advised how he would recommend to get some stains up in a house we just bought. Then he did a good job showing me why he recommended that solution and it worked great. The stains came up! Will use them in the future.

We had new carpet installed [which included removal of our old carpet]. Jesus was very good to work with. He was quick to respond to texts and descriptive on what work would be included in the price he gave us. His price was also very reasonable and the work was done well and efficiently. We would definitely hire him again for other household and yard projects and highly recommend him to anyone looking for this type of work :)

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.
