Brittany was fantastic with our 2 older cats! One cat never comes to greet a stranger but she did on Brittany's watch. She was even able to administer medication to that same cat! We will definitely be calling on Brittany again for drop in cat sitting! Please consider her -- she is great!

Heather is very nice and thoughtful, and was willing to come to the house to meet my animals as well as get the layout and go over my needs while away. She stayed a couple nights to take care of things and I felt fully confident in her services. She performed well and is completely trustworthy and I felt safe leaving my babies in her hands. Heather is experienced with all types of animals and she also left the house in immaculate condition. I am excited to use her again for house-sitting and pet-sitting services!

We have been using Jana at Phoenix Pet Care for about four years now and we (and our pup Hilo) just love her. She came to us on a recommendation and we strongly agree that she is the best! We like having Hilo be at home while we are gone, and she takes care of everything he needs so that we don't worry about our four legged family member while we are away, though we miss him greatly. And Jana has always been so wonderful about sending photo updates! It's a wonderful service and a wonderful person and you won't be disappointed.

Judy from Pet Professionals has walked every dog I have ever owned (Rudy & Zoey (kennel mates), Sadie and now Cody). I trust Judy with the most important part of my life, my dogs. Not only has she walked them, but she has also given me training advice. Consistency with new pups is very important and her advice is priceless. She has been so flexible, if my schedule changes she adapts for me. My dogs have all loved her beyond belief. I am so fortunate to have found Pet Professionals, buy mostly I am lucky to have found Judy. She is not only the caretaker/walker of my dogs, she has also become a very close friend.

Could not be more pleased with Deanna's pet sitting. She took care of our dog and cat for 3 weeks and did an outstanding job. Now we can go out of town stress free knowing our animals are in great hands.

Sandi really cares about animals and takes pride in providing the best experience for them when in her care. I can always count on Sandi and have recommended her pet services to other pet owners. My dog Rudy is always excited to see Sandi and that means a lot to me.

She was accommodating and took care of my pet.

I have pets myself, and I love walking and feeding dogs. I also love to host sitting because I am very comfortable with being in-charge.

I have 3 dogs of my own, and there is nothing more valuable to me than having peace of mind while I am away from them. I put the same kind of heart into caring for and working with others' pets.

I can do pet sitting, dog walking, lawn mowing, house cleaning, and other chores you might need help with. I can travel to you!

I am really good with dogs and love to take care of them. They will always be in the best care when with me!

In my current job as an independent Pet Sitter , I visit the homes of clients to care for their animals while they are away; I make sure the animals are fed watered and walked and sometimes am asked to stay in the home overnight. I am responsible and take the trust of my clients very seriously. My organizational skills are outstanding and I am able to keep track of appointments and related tasks. I absolutely love animals of all kinds and am an enthusiastic and loving care provider. I have cared for all sorts of animals, from chips to large dogs. My passion shows and I have been commended by past clients and booked for repeat business often. I would love to bring my dedication and professionalism to work for you, as your pet sitter.

We walk, bathe, play, watch, socialize, and much more. This is a dog sitting/walking business, but we have experience with other animals. We are really excited to be working with you and your pet. We are very flexible and can work around your schedule and financial situation, but we only work in West Salem. Thank you so much!

I can take care of your pets like they are my own, with love, respect, cuddling and with whatever they need.

I'm currently a senior at Mountain View High School, but I'm finishing my requirements through running start at Clark College. I only attend classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I have a lot of free time! I've been seeking employment to occupy myself. I have a huge heart for animals, and it never occurred to me that I could do something I love and make a little bit of cash while doing it! I would be able to walk, exercise and play with your dogs. I love being very active myself, and being able to do that with animals just makes it all the more fun! I can also provide pet sitting when needed.

I love dogs, and I have a personal experience with them. I can walk them multiple times a day and check up on them whenever needed.

I will tend to your pets' needs in all that they enjoy to keep them comfortable the entire time you are away. They won't realize you are gone after the first day. When you come home, you won't feel so guilty about being away, because they will be happy and relaxed in their own environment and their own familiar surroundings and not sent to a kennel and locked away in a cage in a cold, strange place without you. What makes my business great is that I do all of these wonderful things on my own time, and I get as much enjoyment out of taking care of them as they get out of all the fun we have together.

I am a veterinary technician with over 25 years of experience. I love working with animals. I have shown terriers successfully in obedience and agility, using positive training methods. I treat each pet as my own, with love and kindness.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
