- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I found the benefits of yoga to be tremendously helpful when I first discovered it. Through yoga, I worked through depression and self-confidence issues, found a healthy weight and fitness level and discovered ways to feel less anxious and agitated. If it can do all that for me, it can do that for anyone.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Talk to the professionals you are looking to meet, and find the personality that you identify most with. If you're comfortable with the person, learning or practicing yoga will be more enjoyable.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
One thing I hope people unfamiliar with yoga understand is that it has nothing to do with religion. The physical practice was developed to enable the mind to be calm enough to meditate. There are many yogic practices, but the yoga I teach is strictly physical. I don't even have to mention the unfamiliar (Sanskrit) names of poses or the chakras if you don't want to hear about it! I will tell you all about the muscles, tendons and fascia you're working with as you move through each posture, as well as the health benefits to each.
