In 2007, I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and two years later, I earned my AKBD (Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer) certificate through the National Kitchen and Bath Association.
I have worked the full spectrum of design including at several design/build firms on high end kitchen/baths and whole house remodels to smaller family-run construction companies with a focus on work where budget is paramount. In this industry, I have found that building relationships, networking with vendors, and focusing on quality long-term partners can generate the best bridges for life.
My passion for interior design started when I was young, helping my uncle, a local contractor/home builder on job sites, analyzing the architectural plans, visiting product showrooms, and assisting with material choices. I loved the client interaction and creative expression interior design allowed. Plus, what a fun career! Working with homeowners to create beautiful interiors where they can feel comfortable and joyful is an exhilarating challenge I look forward to every day.
My approach to design involves a very collaborative open communication between designer and client. To truly design the space, I need to know a few things about how you live. For example, how many people will be living in the home, how many pets, and low maintenance or green material preferences. As a designer, I can envision how simple, out-of-the-box solutions to problems in our environments can truly change the functionality of how we live.
My personal style is transitional, however, I spend a lot of time upfront listening to my client's needs and wants before evaluating what style would be the best fit their lifestyle. I am very energized and encouraged for a great year after attending the 2014 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and International Builders Show (IBS) in Vegas and eager to work on your project!
