I booked a kitchen vent hood installation with Ed. He said he’s busy so I had to book around a month in advance and paid a 50% deposit to get on his calendar. The date he was meant to start the work I heard nothing - a scheduling snafu, no problem, these things happen. Later that week he came by to drop off a ladder and some materials, said he would come by the next day to prep the job. He wasn’t able to come the following day, so we then agreed that he would come do the work the following week while I was out of town. I prepped everything in the house for him, then again heard nothing when the agreed time came and went. He once again promised to come a few days later, then didn’t, then promised yet again to come a few days after that and still didn’t show up. My patience exhausted, I finally texted him saying that unless the job was done by the following week he should just refund my deposit. He didn’t respond, instead just came to the house and picked up his ladder and materials while I was gone. Shockingly unprofessional. He gets a second star for promptly refunding my deposit - could’ve been worse I suppose.

Scam alert. Do not hire these people. Abandoned project after receiving most of the money. I hired Ed on May 20 to install some drywall in my basement, frame a door to the laundry room, and level / lay down new flooring. At the time he said it should be a 1 week project. On June 19 after a few days of work and SEVERAL cancellations and personal/car issues later he was maybe halfway done with the project and “being a man of his word” said he would finish up by June 26 when I had told him I had family coming to town. However after June 19 he stopped replying to my messages. On June 23 I saw on my Ring camera he arrived (I thought to work), but as I watched he entered my garage, grabbed his ladder he had left behind and sped off with no call, text, or email to explain anything. He had asked early on for most of the $$ to be paid after starting the project (not what was listed in the contract) to cover some personal expenses. After the first couple of days he had seemed trustworthy, so I have paid him 90% of the contract cost (+ $300 for self leveler which he bought but did not provide me with a receipt afterwards to show the total cost). I’d estimate he has finished about 65% of the project but wasted a month of time and has abandoned the job and left the basement a mess. I have asked him for a partial refund but have not gotten any response. I would never consider hiring this guy again. Feel free to reach out to me for more information. Ed came to checkout the job within 24 hours of my posting and quoted me a fair price. It was a small job, so he was able to knock it quickly. Just two days after my post, my deck was fixed. Ed's a jovial and no nonsense guy.
