I have been working with Shane for almost two years, shooting all the homes that I bring to the market and love being able to rely on his professionalism and creative eye! I have never been disappointed in any photo shoot and my clients are always impressed! I asked him last fall if he would be willing to do a family photo shoot (12 Adults and 18 Kids)...he didn't flinch and the result was amazing! I highly recommend Shane with no reservation!

Over the years I have worked with many photographers, but I have to say that working with Shane Mckenzie was very easy. He was well prepared, on time, and made the shooting of my video for my business seem effortless. He seemed to understand what I wanted to achieve which was very refreshing. The result was impressive to say the least and has resulted in a very positive way for the growth of my own business. I don't normally give reviews, but felt Shane's work and result was worth the effort.

Shane provided the photography for our large, 3-day gymnastics meet. The pictures were excellent, the prices for the photos were great and we got lots of compliments from the parents on our choice! I only wish I had at least 3 Shanes - one for each competition area...

Shane is a go to guy. If you need someone who will crawl through mud or do whatever possible to get the shot he's the one. He's got a great eye and it's a joy to work with him. -Glenn Scott Lacey/Americonic Films

Shane has been fantastic to work with. He thinks outside of the box and and really has an eye for capturing the best image possible. I have been very happy with all of the suggestions he has put towards me and the end result of the product has been near perfect. Yes this is a glowing review, but it does reflect the reality of my situation with him.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I saw imagery made by Dave Black, a sports photographer and Nikon Ambassador. From that moment I was hooked. A while back I emailed Dave to thank him for the inspiration and to share one of my images. To my surprise he emailed straight back and said: "Hi Shane. Thanks for you very kind email today. Glad to hear that your Speedlight work is doing well for you. Some great images...really like the Mt Bike guy blasting through the water. "Light is the Greatest Influence" Take care, Dave" That made my day!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

What are their images like? If your considering hiring a sports photographer look at their images. Do they have distracting backgrounds behind the subject or is it clean and nicely blurred out? Does the subject fill the majority of the frame or are they a dot in the middle of the picture? This alone will give you an idea to their skill level. Do they carry liability insurance? Accidents happen. Do they have back up cameras and gear? Modern cameras are complex machines and can and do go wrong, often at the worst moment. A professional photographer knows this and will have at least a back up camera so no matter what happens, they won't miss that shot.
