- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in a job I really didnt enjoy that much and I began to be very tired of working for other businesses. I decided that I was going to do something fun that I actually enjoyed doing every day. I wanted to make a difference and really connect with people. As I was sitting at my computer searching for another job in hopes of finding something I would enjoy doing, my screen saver came on with a picture of my adorable little dog Penny at Christmas time. My sister and I had put a little doggie Santa hat on her and it is one of my favorite pictures. That was when the idea started percolating. I had always loved animals and I wondered if there was any dog walking businesses in Portland, Oregon (the area in which I live). I Googled it and there were a handful of dog walking companies in Portland to choose from but I was stricken my how expensive some of them were. So, I started up Paws for Exercise and decided it would be geared not for only the upper class but for any regular person. I knew that these were hard financial times for people because of the economy so I wanted to make my services high in quality but lower in price. I wanted to be affordable to anyone because so many people have and love their pets.
