I recently hired Jody to help me with a leak. He was very thorough in investigating the cause and talked me through the options for repairs. He was very friendly as well and it was comfortable to have him in my home. My dogs liked him as well (important to me in the event I hire him again). I was impressed with the cleanliness as well and look forward to working with Jody again. His sheetrock guy will be visiting next to complete the repair to the ceiling and I'm optimistic in the quality I'll see from him based on Jody's work and other reviews I've read. Glad to know I have someone to call when I need things done now.

Fantastic job with not only installing handmade chandler from Italy but installed all the hand blown glass as well...looks spectacular and reasonable in estimate; on time, flexible in installation of another light fixture; obviously taking pride in his work; will definitely use his experience and service for other projects in near future; thank you Yazek for a wonderful and expedient installation 😀

Absolutely top notch. And I'm picky. I got top quality. Honest, respectful, reliable. Fair price, delivered exactly as promised. Cleaned a huge tri level home, including cabinets & drawers inside and out, 31/2 bathrooms, tile, laminate, mirrors, appliances, windows inside and out, deck and hard scape. He said it would be perfect and it is. Best carpet cleaning I've ever had, wished he had been cleaning my carpets all along. Highest recommendation. Many thanks, Alexander

I hired Corey because he was willing to come out and give me a quote in a timely manner . His price was more than fair and he did an amazing job on 6 rooms and a hallway that totaled about 1300 sq. ft. of laminet flooring .His work ethic speaks for itself. He was on time and focused and ready to go . One other thing I would like to share is ,I was at ease with him right away .I know we have to be so careful now a days with who we allow in our homes but , as my husband and I had to be away working our own jobs we trusted Corey and I'm happy to say everything worked out fine . Our two pups took to him as well . I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again . Great job!

Chris did a awesome job working with me on the installation of my John Louis Home closet organizers. we encountered some problems on the installation with the walls in the closet not being square, so we had to cut and fit the shelving. This job toke more time because of the extra work that was required, overall we were very happy with the end result. Chris's knowledge of woodworking really helped. I would highly recommend Chris to my friends, and if I need help on another project I will be calling on him again

I was looking for some one to tape, mud and sand the drywall I installed in my laundry room so all I would have to do is paint. I sent in a request to Thumbtack and Tim Duclos from All About Wallz called me within 10 minutes (he was the first to respond). He came out the next day, gave me an estimate and I hired him on the spot. I had read his reviews (all good) and he gave me the lowest bid by far (I had gotten several other bids after he called). He showed up on time, worked on the room over the course of 2 days (working around our schedule), cleaned up afterward, and was polite and professional. I was very happy with his work. I even asked him to fix another small hole in a hallway and put up some door trim while he was here and he did it without raising his original estimate! I gave him a bonus anyway for his extra work and I will call on him again as I continue to remodel. I highly recommend him.

We needed our bathroom re-tiled and a new sub floor. There was mold under the tile so we had to postpone the tiling. Paul from Home Run was great. He was extremely flexible while we got the mold figured out. He did an amazing job, was on time, picked up all the materials (even the tile I ordered), and was super courteous. I highly recommend him and his crew. We already have another project we are going to go with him on.

Garbage disposal not working. Doug came out at exactly the time promised, diagnosed the problem as a blockage and repaired it in a few minutes at an exceptionally reasonable price. I was so pleased that I hired him for 3 additional small projects--exhaust fan duct repair, heat duct strapping and window well installation. They have all been completed to my complete satisfaction at a reasonable price. Doug is great to work with and I will certainly hire him again as need arises.

Working with Geoff and his guys was a great experience! Our project consisted of finishing 2 bedrooms, including drywall, texturing, painting, flooring, and carpentry work. Geoff was able to take our ideas and make them happen in our allotted timeframe, as well as providing valuable insight that really made our project a success. Communication was great too, we were always in the loop. Overall, cant say enough good things about working with Geoff. Will look to him again for future projects!

We remodeled a recently purchased 1970's home. We raised the living room floor, removed a raised floor in the master bedroom, replaced all the floors with hardwood, moved the washer and dryer to a different location, installed recessed lighting, changed all of the interior doors, changed an interior cedar wall to an amazing feature wall and painted the interior. We used IBI as the contractor for our remodeling. The quality of work was excellent. The work was completed on budget except for change orders that we made during construction. When changes were needed we received bids, negotiated the work to be completed and electronically accepted the changes before any work was done. The workers on our project were excellent and professional. They continually asked us questions to be sure the work was done to meet our needs. They gave us advice and helped us make the right decisions. They were pleasant and made the experience fun. We weren't living in the house when the project was done, but we never felt uncomfortable about leaving knowing that the workers were going to do the right thing. We learned to be patient as there were delays. Sub-contractors were not always available, IBI had other clients that had deadlines that needed to be met; however, we had regular communications on reasons for delays and when they anticipated completion of tasks in the project. We have recommended IBI to friends and IBI would be our first contact if we need a contractor.

    About

anything involving Drywall i have been doing it since 1992 and still i am really good at what i do and if you don't like it i will fix it for you again

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

    • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
    • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

    • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
    • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
    • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
