FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I make a point of charging lower fees. My goal is to help college students and lower-income people as readily is I would help high-powered, high-paying business executives. My fee for helping college students and people with low incomes is just $15 per hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by asking the customer what they know already about what they need help with. I don't want to go over old ground when I could be using the time to help them learn something entirely new. I ask what they find most difficult or uncomfortable about their project. Finally, I ask what their ideal outcome would be. Do they see themselves writing a book? Do they see themselves acing all their English classes? Do they want to land their dream job with an excellent resume and cover letter? Then I would ask them why they reached out to me in particular. What can I, Heather Brooks, help them with in a way that no one else can. If I know that then I can help them in the way described to me, by, as nearly as possible, delivering what they expected.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a Master of Arts degree in writing, with emphasis in publishing, and further specialization in editing. This question isn't on here, but let me add that I am a novelist with three published works and a fourth on the way. I self-published these books using my training. That in itself was an educational experience, let me tell you!
