Until recently I was a journeyman Carpenter in the union, but after a couple injuries and a constant unhealthy work/play balance, I got burned out. So I decided to get back to my roots in residential carpentry. I was raised in a family of tradesman and started my career in high school. Prior to moving to Portland seven years ago I was a general contractor in Denver, Colorado. With 25+ years in the industry, I have vast knowledge in all aspects of the residential construction process.
I pride myself not only on my ethic and experience but on my ability to think outside the box. I look forward to custom designs and unique projects. I try to stick to low impact, environmentally conscious, sustainable building practices when possible. I am most passionate about landscape construction, Bamboo construction, skoolie/RV conversions, tiny houses and ADU's.
After volunteering my time in the rebuilding efforts in Puerto Rico the past six months(1/24-6/24) I am back in town and back in business! I am however leaving on another volunteer mission after the holidays this winter, that said I am only taking on smaller projects for time being.

Ryan did a terrific job repairing a decorative balcony on the exterior of our home, and a couple other minor repairs. He treated us as if we were a very important client. In addition to his skill and sound recommendations, he is knowledgeable, informative, very pleasant and friendly, and cares about his clients. I'd hire him again without reservation, and will recommend him to our friends.

I had a deck built, and Ryan was in constant communication with regarding the design. Even through some cold rainy days he was able to complete the project quickly. I will hire him again for other projects!
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I like to work by the hour. I try to be as accurate as possible when preparing my estimates. My preferred hourly rate is $50. Materials are to be covered upfront by my clients, a procurement fee will be added to this cost if I am to source and transport.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I must see a project before making any financial agreement, there are few exceptions to this rule. I am normally available late afternoons to assess your project. Once I have seen it and agree to take the job I will put together a materials list. Whether I procure materials or the client does, I ask that the client cover the cost. On larger jobs I may ask for a draw(partial payment for completion of portions of project) but I will never ask for payment upfront. Once my work is done I will perform a walk through with the client to ensure you are happy. Once we both agree that the project is completed as planned you will be billed via my online paperless billing system. I accept cash, all major credit cards and eCheck. I prefer 5 day terms but as long as we are in communication I can be flexible.
Keeping you as a repeat client will be on my mind the duration of the job!
