We are Black Spider, a woman-run, fully licensed, bonded and insured design firm that will stop at nothing to get you the home/look/feel you’re going for. We feel design should be accessible to everyone and as such, price ourselves fairly and economically: the ability to wake up in a beautiful space should be attainable. We can do it all, from single room redesigns using your own family furniture to full home remodels, we are the group for you. Please note we trend toward the funkier, more exciting design styles and as we say at the office: we aren’t your grandma’s design team. Love to mix glam with boho? Us too! I cannot recommend Black Spider Design enough. They are extremely experienced, knowledgeable, resourceful, and excellent at working with whatever challenges are thrown their way. They had creative solutions for everything and were outstanding at foreseeing any potential obstacles, which saved me so much time and worry. I hired them for a very involved house renovation and re-design project and, from start to finish, they were the ultimate consummate professionals in every way. When shopping for an interior designer, I interviewed four other designers, all of whom were very good, before I spoke with Black Spider and knew right away that these pros were in a league of their own. I brought them on to do a complete re-design of my newly purchased 3 bedroom/2 bath house, with a huge time crunch, all while construction workers were in there doing everything imaginable, and all while dealing with material shortages during the height of renovation season, and they handled it all with impeccable finesse. They were incredibly skilled at understanding and presenting what I had in mind even when I had not always been able to articulate or envision it. Their look books were terrific and so user-friendly, and their design sense was a cut-above. They also always knew where to steer me when it came to finding hard-to-get materials and items, which reduced so much potential stress. Simply put, I could not have done this project without them and I am in love with my newly renovated house. I've attached a couple before and afters.

My wife wanted to change our home from a southwestern style to a more modern farmhouse style, and we were recommended to Black Spider by a friend of hers. The Spider team did a great job, especially since we didn’t know exactly what we wanted. They were patient and listened and made the whole process really easy for us. We still had to find people to do the work, but they worked alongside them to make sure all was as we wanted in the end. My wife is happy so I’m happy.

While I haven’t had the opportunity to have White/Black Spider design my own home, I have had the pleasure of staying in many of the vacation rentals they’ve designed over the years! During the ice storm of 2021 I lost power for eight days and stayed in one of their homes in northeast Portland. During my time there I said many times I didn’t want to leave as the Soider team had thought about everything traveler (and her little dog, too!) would need to feel at home. From the super comfy beds to the fully stocked kitchen to the giant sectional that was perfect for movie watching to the toiletries in each of the bathrooms - everything had been thoughtfully selected to make traveling easy. During a traumatic time of not knowing when I’d be able to go home again and, once I could, what I’d be coming back to, it was so nice to have a cozy home base to put my mind a bit at ease. If you’re thinking of hiring the Spider team to design your rental or your personal home or even just your paint colors, know that from everything I’ve witnessed they stop at nothing to make each space something to be excited about.

Black Spider designed my mid-century modern home in Forest Park back in 2014 and are currently redesigning two of my townhomes in Portland, Oregon. They also just built a custom fence to give the townhomes complete privacy from each other, and a beautiful deck with a privacy screen! They’re easy to work with, professional and have great ideas to better the design you originally planned. I have always enjoyed working with their amazing team and will be using them on my new house in Oak Grove, too.

The Black Spider design team has worked on my homes in San Francisco, New Orleans and Portland. Everywhere I buy I bring them in. They know exactly how to get the job done and have never gone over our budget or timeline. As a professional those two things can are hugely valuable to me. They show up on time and ready to work every single day and their pricing is very fair. I trust them so much I went to Mexico and gave them free reign of my new home and came back to an absolute showpiece. I still have no idea how they did it all in two weeks and they're not talking. If you, like me, are tired of getting stood up, asked for more time/money or flat out having contractors ditch you altogether, then do yourself the same favor I did and call Black Spider.
