We feel design should be accessible to everyone and as such, price ourselves fairly and economically: the ability to wake up in a beautiful space should be attainable. We can do it all, from single room redesigns using your own family furniture to full home remodels, we are the group for you. The Black Spider design team has worked on my homes in San Francisco, New Orleans and Portland. Everywhere I buy I bring them in. They know exactly how to get the job done and have never gone over our budget or timeline. As a professional those two things can are hugely valuable to me. They show up on time and ready to work every single day and their pricing is very fair. I trust them so much I went to Mexico and gave them free reign of my new home and came back to an absolute showpiece. I still have no idea how they did it all in two weeks and they're not talking. If you, like me, are tired of getting stood up, asked for more time/money or flat out having contractors ditch you altogether, then do yourself the same favor I did and call Black Spider.

While I haven’t had the opportunity to have White/Black Spider design my own home, I have had the pleasure of staying in many of the vacation rentals they’ve designed over the years! During the ice storm of 2021 I lost power for eight days and stayed in one of their homes in northeast Portland. During my time there I said many times I didn’t want to leave as the Soider team had thought about everything traveler (and her little dog, too!) would need to feel at home. From the super comfy beds to the fully stocked kitchen to the giant sectional that was perfect for movie watching to the toiletries in each of the bathrooms - everything had been thoughtfully selected to make traveling easy. During a traumatic time of not knowing when I’d be able to go home again and, once I could, what I’d be coming back to, it was so nice to have a cozy home base to put my mind a bit at ease. If you’re thinking of hiring the Spider team to design your rental or your personal home or even just your paint colors, know that from everything I’ve witnessed they stop at nothing to make each space something to be excited about.

The Black Spider (previously of white spider infamy) team have helped me on two of my Bend, Oregon vacation homes so far! Both are vastly different designs which sometimes can be hard to do with a singular firm, but they have designers for all styles. I’m ready to buy another home and when I do I’ll be calling Spider to help again!

Black Spider designed my mid-century modern home in Forest Park back in 2014 and are currently redesigning two of my townhomes in Portland, Oregon. They also just built a custom fence to give the townhomes complete privacy from each other, and a beautiful deck with a privacy screen! They’re easy to work with, professional and have great ideas to better the design you originally planned. I have always enjoyed working with their amazing team and will be using them on my new house in Oak Grove, too.

My wife wanted to change our home from a southwestern style to a more modern farmhouse style, and we were recommended to Black Spider by a friend of hers. The Spider team did a great job, especially since we didn’t know exactly what we wanted. They were patient and listened and made the whole process really easy for us. We still had to find people to do the work, but they worked alongside them to make sure all was as we wanted in the end. My wife is happy so I’m happy.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We want all people to be able to afford design. If you need a bit of leniency, we can work with you!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We do an initial call followed by a virtual meeting, a walkthrough of the home, sharing of ideas, proposal written and hopefully it ends with an agreement to do the work!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Between all of us we have multiple design degrees.
