Introduction: With over 400 hours of Japanese teaching experience via Wyzant Tutoring, I will help instill confidence in you that you can learn Japanese and also make it fun! What makes me unique as a tutor is that I was born and raised in Japan and have Japanese native-level mastery (in terms of grammar, pronunciation and cultural understanding). Students have shared that they have appreciated my ability to answer questions regarding grammar clearly. I cater my lessons to each student and try to incorporate a variety of learning techniques. I also speak French proficiently and am currently learning Spanish, so I have insight into what it's like to learn a new language as an adult.

I’ve had 4 tutors in the last 3 years, both native Japanese and American, and Marisa tops them all. My son and I took some basic Japanese lessons from Marisa, in preparation for an upcoming trip to Japan. Marisa is exactly who we needed to help our family through distance learning. She helped my two kids (ages 8 and 9) with Japanese support as well as Math when they needed it.
