After 10 weeks of working with Emily, I have lost 10 pounds while gaining a considerable amount of muscle (this is very difficult to achieve, but especially so at 53!). Most importantly, I have regained much of my youth including the ability to run a few miles. I could not run, period, prior to EB’s program. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I begin with a complimentary phone consultation in which the following are discussed in detail: health and fitness goals, previous exercise experience and current routine, current nutrition regimen, pertinent medical history, and scheduling. If the potential client determines that they’d like to try a session with me, I offer the session for 50% off my base rate. Before the session begins, I conduct a movement assessment to determine any movement compensations or areas of weakness that need to be addressed prior to the workout to ensure a safe and effective session. After the first workout I ask for feedback from the client and lay out a succinct long-term plan of action to meet the client’s goals. At that point, if the client would like to move forward, we discuss scheduling and next steps.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?NASM - CPT (certified personal trainer), NASM - PES (performance enhancement specialist), NASM - CES (corrective exercise specialist), Animal Flow Instructor (dynamic bodyweight training), Russian Kettle Bells Level 2 certified, Triggerpoint Therapy certified.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I’ve been active my whole life, but as a teenager I discovered that I had PCOS - poly cystic ovarian syndrome. This hormone imbalance made it particularly difficult for me to manage my nutrition and maintain a healthy weight. Through my education in different functional training modalities and nutrition I was able to get myself in shape and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. I’m now passionate about helping others do the same!
