- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
When I bought my first digital camera it came with a series of classes and workshops. I have pursued several of these such as photoshop, Zoo Safaris, night photography, portraiture etc. I am a Photography member at The Lan SU Chinese Garden. I go almost weekly to photograph an ever changing subject during the seasonal changes in the year. I am a new member of New Space Photography Gallery and will be using their labs this year to begin to print bigger sizes of photos. I also attend The Portland Art Museum often to see photography exhibits.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Three years ago I decided it was time to create a new website. I had had a site before but this time I wanted to do my own photography...so I purchased a small digital camera and took a few lessons. My website project was funded with An Artist Project Grant from The Regional Arts and Culture Council in 2011 and I was able to expand many pages more with my own images in the galleries. Since then I have been in several shows for Art Photography and have photographed many arts events including recording my workshops, the work people have done with me and the displays I have put on in local venues. During my daughter's highschool years I began to attend arts events and record activities such as dance, theatre, sports (swimming). The feedback on my work has been very positive and I am currently being asked to do more and more jobs. Very exciting changes for me!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
When I teach in schools I always document our projects, process, materials and any presentations we make for the larger community. (promotional/educational) I have also photographed action events such as dance, theatre and science fairs and special educational events. Recently I created a small portfolio for an actress to add to her tear sheet for auditions (portraits) Alla my photography on my site is my work which was funded with a grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council in 2011(website images) My Art Photography is currently at The Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland, Oregon.(architectural/garden)
