About
Tuning is important, but it's just the starting point of truly maintaining a piano. In my standard full service visit, I take time to improve the calibration of the action, the tone of the hammers, and repair any sticking keys or other common problems. I strive to provide maximum value in the time I have with your piano. I think of it as full-spectrum care for your instrument. Let's get it playing and sounding the way it's meant to.

Jacob did an excellent job tuning our very old piano which had not been tuned in decades. It sounds 100% better than it did. He explained everything he was doing in detail. We scheduled a follow up appointment in December.

Being a pianist my whole life, I know how much of a difference expert tuning and regulation can make. Jacob recently worked on my piano and it now feels and sounds magnificent and is truly a joy to play.I deeply appreciate the level of care, skill, and attention to detail that Jacob took with my 1993 Petrof baby grand. This was a quantum leap better than any service I have ever had on this piano and it truly has never sounded better.I very highly recommend! Thanks again, Jacob, for the exceptional work!

What a wonderful experience!!!Jacob took on my spinet piano without judgement . This old jalopy was cosplaying as an 88 keyed instrument , sounding like an old western saloon piano from the stage set of Bonanza 1/2 step off spanning 2 octaves then venturing into new territories of tonal arrangements and Jacob brought the whole thing back to what a piano should sound like ! He is awesome ! 5 stars!

Haha, what a vivid and hilarious description! I always enjoy the dramatic transformation with pianos like yours. Maybe people think that's "just what an old piano sounds like" but they would be surprised what a couple hours of tuning and voicing can do!

I agree with others. He loves his work. Very professional but also congenial. Reasonable charge rate. Knows his stuff. And you get to listen to him playing.

Jacob made it happen! I live in a remote town and spent years looking for someone to tune my piano. Jacob was willing to have a discussion, work through the distance dilemma, support the community with pianotuning, not just me. He did a lovely job, even got to listen to his incredible talent unfold on the keys. WOW! My family had a great time. By the time he left it was like saying adios to a family member. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jacob!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Basic tuning for pianos that are well maintained starts at $175. If your piano needs a catch-up service (hasn't been tuned in years, needs some work to get it in shape), my full service appointment is $250. I'll talk to you before doing any work beyond those rates! No surprises.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It's easy, just contact me and I'll help you set up an appointment. I'll ask you a few questions about your piano. The first time I come I'll do a full evaluation of the condition of the instrument, tune it, do some minor repairs and mechanical calibration, and schedule the next visit. I send automatic reminders so you don't have to worry about losing track of appointments.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I learned aural tuning from the International Piano Technicians School. I am a Certified Piano Technician with The Artisan School and a member of their mentorship program. I'm fortunate to have several top-notch mentors who are veterans in the trade, and I'm preparing to take exams to become a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild.
