It's very important to me that my students have fun while learning holistic techniques that will make you a strong performer in any style that you choose. I have two studio locations, one in Jantzen Beach near downtown Vancouver and a studio in inner Southeast Portland near the Hawthorne Bridge. Music and performance have been my life since I was 6 years old, which led me to earn my BAC in Theater Arts and Music Performance in addition to my MS in Theater Arts and Performance. In addition to directing, acting and performing, I have taught voice, piano, flute, acting and speech for 20 years and have cultivated an approach to teaching that will help you become a well-rounded performer and musician. I will coach you to feeling confident both in your abilities and your knowledge. With my guidance music theory and sight reading can be fun and de-mystified! Ear training abd history can give you a more complete context for voice, piano and flute. As an acting student, we will study pragmatic physical skills like breath, strengthening exercises, script analysis and methods. All of my students learn foundations in their fields, develop strong stage presence, and the importance of productive self critique. My focus is on you, the performer as a whole. I will also work with you on marketing strategy if you are interested in this, because ultimately, being able to share your new skills, craft and confidence with an audience and make a living from your art can be an achievable goal paramount to forging a career in the industry.
