FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $25/hour for the first hour, and $40/2 hours. I can work with more than 1 student at a time, and find the interaction very helpful as students learn to collaborate with each other. I also try to encourage students to use resources that are online such as the Khan Academy.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by asking students what material they wish to do in each lesson and what difficulties the student is presently encountering with the material. My job is then to clarify any concepts that they might have missed in their previous studies that are causing them to not be able to do work correctly.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an MS in Mathematics from Oregon State University. I taught Algebra, Linear Algebra and Calculus there as well. I assisted students in the Mathematical Sciences Learning Center who came for help with their studies. Some of these students brought assignments from their physics and engineering classes as well. I have been studying Spanish and Hindi as hobby languages for the past 10 years and I am well versed in the grammar of these two languages. I also have a post bac in Accounting from Portland State University and can help with the elementary concepts of accounting and finance.
