About this pro

How does your business stand out?

For me, beauty is equally valued with the usefulness of what I am creating. Together, we build the story behind each piece. Your ideas and dreams are all part of the creative process that make ideas a reality. My passion lies in discovery, invention and the challenge to make something useful in the most beautiful way possible. In early 2017 I have reconfigured my shop to specialize in my small works and I run and engraving service. I have made boxes, wood wallets and card cases for the past 7 years and I still love making each one. I continue to make these as well as other small wood items like earrings, laptop stands, specialty boxes and more!. Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile here on Thumbtack! All the best, Jacquelyn

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

My passion lies in discovery, invention and the challenge to make something useful in the most beautiful way possible. That's what I get to do every day! My work is literally all over the world. I find that a bit hard to believe and I am incredibly honored. I also love the clients I meet and have the privilege to work with. Clients are often fun, inspiring and thoughtful. It takes a village and I am happy to be one of the members!

Jacque designed and built for me a custom dining room table that is simply amazing! I'm an electrical engineer and I wanted a table that somehow represented my work in designing printed circuit boards. Jacque took a circuit board I designed, extracted the key elements, and beautifully created a table with different kinds of inlaid wood that represented the holes, vias, and traces of one of my favorite product designs. I was so impressed with the final result that I'm now having her make a matching breakfast table for my kitchen. Jacque was professional, easy to work with, very competitively priced, completed the table in a timely manner, and the entire experience from initial design to delivery was a truly positive experience.

This was a very fun project to have the opportunity to make. Rebecca was fantastic to work with as she was responsive, decisive and open to creativity.

I commissioned Jacque to build that desk. It went far beyond what I even dreamed was possible, both in the design and in the sheer quality of the piece. Five years later, I'm still delighted to sit behind it. Jacque was great to work with. She made sure that the desk does exactly what I want.

This was to date one of the most amazing projects I have ever had an opportunity to design and build. Bob was a lot of fun to work with! We made a friendship as well and lots of good memories on this job. Thank you Bob!

I commissioned Jacque to design and build me a special stool. She couldn't have been better to work with. We discussed via email all the important aspects of a stool and then she ran with her own design, remembering to make sure the legs were sturdy and angled. Artistically, the stool is gorgeous, excellent choice of woods. And the best part was that she emailed photos of the work in process. She knew how much time the piece would take and delivered on time. I am confident that she can do whatever her clients desire, and she's fun!

This stool was a cathartic experience for me reminding me how much I love to carve shapes in wood. It may have just been Bob's back up stool for times when company is over, but I take any job I do to task and try my best to put everything into it I can. What I got out of this one is irreplaceable! Thank you Joan and Bob! And Joan recently wrote to me saying that Bob actually prefers his stool to his normal seat at the table! Now that's an added bonus!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Its not complicated. Time to design and build and the cost of materials. Remember, time includes the cost of a shop space and tool maintenance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Working in the field pretty much does that. I work and communicate with other professionals in my field and we exchange information all the time. Every day is a day to learn.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began by taking all of my toys apart and putting them back together. Then I did that to the house with my Dad. Then I began making art. Finally I have put the two together. It is my true expression. I am best in my life doing this kind of work.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Custom furniture (dining tables, entry tables, end tables, desks, dressers, beds, headboards, book shelves, architectural millwork, specialty boxes, kitchens. You name it.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A custom dining room table with circuit board inlay design. It was for a computer engineer who has designed circuit boards since they were about 14 years old. The table honors a lifetime of work and success.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look at their work. Listen to your instincts about trusting this person who is going to design and build for you.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I love it! It takes time to do this correctly. It costs money to have a space to operate in, to supply and maintain the tools correctly. It takes many years to become a master builder. Some feel that they haven't even arrived there after 25 or 30 years of hard work. And, oh yeah, this is bloody hard work!
