Introduction: Phonics and Reading Is your child struggling with the beginning stages of reading and are you struggling to help them? I use a Phonics program that addresses reading, writing, and spelling so that students can develop the skills to break language down into its most basic parts. I utilize a program that provides students with a set of tools that applies across all writing formats and that they can use for a lifetime. Grammar Understanding our mother tongue requires three things. A student must know what a thing is (Verb), how it can be used: "He walked. vs. He strolled." Boring verb vs. strong verb, and finally they must practice it again and again until it becomes second nature. Grammar teaches students how to use the 8 different parts of speech. As they practice, they begin to expand upon their definitions...Verbs are not just action words, they can also be helping verbs, linking verbs, and state of being words. I have home schooled my children for eleven years while tutoring small classes of students for Classical Conversations in English and Writing. Additionally, I have been a teacher with Help Elevate Learning Processing and deeply understand learning processing challenges, executive functioning struggles, and learning styles.
