Requested a free quote and he came on February 26 to estimate the property for a weeding and trimming job. The quote was for $300 after including a 20% discount. When he responded with the quote on March 1 he gave me a price and then said that he would be out there tomorrow to do the job. At the time, I was out of the state and would not be back for a few more days. He told me he did not have any availability for when I returned home (I originally requested March 14-15) so we decided to book the appointment for March 27. He reached out a few weeks ago and asked if March 18 would work but I was booked at that point and wanted to proceed with the agreed-upon date. He said no problem, we’ll see you then. He came out today, because yesterday was rained out, and I met him to walk around the property again. In looking at the property, he said that the original price he quoted me several weeks ago is invalid because of the growth of the weeds since he had been here. He never mentioned the price could change when he quoted me. Even though we agreed on a price and he could factor in that the weeds were going to grow in that timeframe. I agreed that a modest increase in price would be acceptable. He walked around the property to service the new quote and came back with an estimate over $900!! I asked how he can charge me triple the price for a job he quoted me less than a month ago. His reply was with the extra bags and time I should not of waited as long to schedule the job because that would drive up the price. At no point during his quote to me, or when we were scheduling, did he say that the price may be affected by unforeseen circumstances (growth, time, etc) The $900 quote did not request any additional service than what we initially discussed. The weeds were already there when he came the first time they had only grown taller and spread a little bit further across my garden (As do all weeds in the spring) Mind you, they did this the week before Easter and I have to get the house ready for my whole family to come with only a few days to do the whole job by myself. The gentleman was polite but that’s not how you run a business. I would not advise going with this company as it’s very possible they may show up to the job and change the quote on you.

Good afternoon, Geoffrey. That gentleman is just an estimator and does not run the business. You are not dealing with a Joe Shmoe company. We are licensed and insured. Our rates are competitive. The reason he gave you the price increase of 3x is due to the fact it would take 3x the amount of time to complete the project. Knowing how much your weeds grew, it should have been expected that you are going to receive a price increase. The price you received for the amount of work you wanted was an insane bargain. You won’t get that price no where else from a licensed, insured, and professional company. We could have avoided all this confusion if we would have went ahead and done the job for the price we originally quoted you. It’s now over a month later. That exact month you delayed, is the exact month weeds start to sprout. You did not even attempt to notify my team about how much growth had actually occurred and I apologize for not having my guys check in with you. The weeds were about 4 inches when my guy came out. They are currently over 12. I apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced with Snappy Lawn Care & Landscaping and we hope to possibly do business in the future. Thanks, Robin

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our quoting is highly dependent on the customer providing us an accurate depiction of the condition of their property, the type of job requested, and our ability to inspect the yard using satellite imagery. We are able to provide a discount to customers who book regular services with us to help keep their yards maintained and healthy during the entire growing season!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We provide all customers with a quote for service in advance of visiting their property. Once a quote is accepted, a highly trained and experienced lawn care tech is dispatched to the customer’s property to complete the work. Our goal is to provide a high level of customer service that leaves both yards sparkling and our customers smiling! In the rare event that a job needs to be rescheduled or re-quoted, we openly communicate all options to the customer in a transparent and low-pressure manner.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are dedicated to continual learning. There is always room in our noggins for more industry expertise.
