My roof was leaking and with all the rain this month I was worried about the repair, the costs, and how soon it could be done. I used Thumbtack to find someone to fix it. Mr Maxwell was out here the following day. My roof fan had fallen apart leaving a hole. They gave me an estimate that was reasonable, and repaired the who 2 days later! They even took a photo to show me the repair since the roof is too high for me to see it. I am very satisfied with this company. I highly recommend them. The are fast, competent, friendly and reasonably priced.

Backyard innovations came out to our home today with intentions on servicing our pool. Once he arrived, He quickly was able to inform us that we do not have an algae issue but scaling on our liner. He provided me with proper pool maintenance information to follow From here on out to better our swimming pool water. Luis was awesome! He drove a far distance and we couldn't use his assistance due to my miss diagnosis! He was very polite and professional. We would definitely recommend using backyard innovations! Thanks Luis!!

Leo was awesome. Ordered a bed which came un-assembled. And when I say un-assembled, I mean the bed arrived in a box with a bunch of wood and hardware - it was like someone took a puzzle, dumped it in a box and mailed it to me. When I opened it I freaked! There was no way I was going to even try to tackle this. I kept putting it off and putting it off because I didn't want to deal with putting that thing together. Needless to say I am not mechanically inclined, nor do I claim or care to be. I advertised the project online and Leo responded with the fairest price for the job AND was the most professional person to respond. After the project was finished, in record time and completely perfect I might add, we asked him if he would be interested in completing other projects in our home - we have so many things that need fixed, repaired, installed etc. Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen - you name it. My father is in poor health lately and, although very mechanically inclined, is unable to fix, repair and install things like he used to. Therefore, a lot of things are in disrepair and there exists a lot of uncompleted projects. We decided that we could really use a guy like Leo. We asked him about painting a few rooms. He gave us a fair estimate and we know, if he continues to work for us, will produce nothing but the best! He actually just called to make sure that we receive his estimate. I spoke with him and, again, he is very professional, and he made sure he followed-up with a formal estimate for the painting job we had asked about in a timely fashion. I am glad he called, because, although I kept thinking, "I need to leave Leo a review," I kept being interrupted by other things. So, to sum it up, if you need a professional handyman/jack-of-all-trades, able to fix, install, repair, etc. (and don't be afraid to ask him if he is willing or able to do a certain project - he is forthright and capable, with big jobs or small), don't just consider Leo, HIRE him already, for goodness sake! PS: My father is about the pickiest person ever created and EVEN HE WAS SATISFIED with Leo and his work...how about that?

I actually had plumbing issues the day after I scheduled with him, so I canceled the job. I had the plumber install the vanity, however, Jason was very responsive, and knew what he was talking about on the phone. I will request him for other projects, but had to hire somebody else due to plumbing emergency.

I would like to congratulate Duane and his colleagues on a truly exceptional job. This was a relatively small job, removing a failing wall and replacing a concrete slap (about 7'x8'ft). Duane visited our house very promptly, and noticed that beyond the problems with the wall/slab that three storm drains were blocked which my have contributed to the underlying problem. He provided a very! detailed and reasonable quote, his team performed the work over a rational time period (given weather constraints) and the result was exceptionally well done. I would like to highlight a few facets of the work which I truly enjoyed: 1: the attention to detail, while the drains were flowing, it wasn't quite fast as expected, he and his team actually worked till they found a chunk of old copper drain pipe deep in the storm drain. 2: the attention to quality, the concrete work was beautifully finished, the drains were resealed after clearing 3: the project was completed in a timely fashion. While not the only project on his books, it was completed well and in a reasonable time frame.. No long waits. Overall I was very happy with Goubeaud and Company's work and I will absolutely hire them again in the future.

I requested emergency plumbing help with a faucet set in the tub that I couldn't off and didn't have water. Mike came in and got the old set off and the new set wouldn't fit. He brought another set just in case and they were perfect. His service was above What I expected and priced extremely reasonable for a Sunday. He even had to fight through the old set being surrounded by concrete. He had to chisel through that too. VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.

Cliff has a great work ethics and he will show up every day to work and not skip a day. He will try to get the job done right on time. I gave him 4 stars because he's more like handy man than really a home remodeling expert. To better explain this, I should say he can tear down a wall and repair it but his finished product isn't at a level you want to get. His painting skills is definitely on the fair side.

Adam was fantastic and very knowledgeable in helping me with the leaky bathtub faucet problem I was having. His pricing was fair and he even called me a few days later to follow up that it was still leak free and working correctly. Will be calling him again for any home repair needs I have in the future.

Travis and his crew did a super job helping us get our house in tip top shape for resale. Along with some siding and flashing repair/replacement, Travis also replaced an interior door, installed gutter protection, and painted our laundry room floor and walls. Rates were extremely competitive and work was done on time with thorough clean up. I'll definitely use Tri-Capital again in our new home.

We have used Try-County Plumbing for many years (to replace a toilet, install a hot water heater, replace a hose bib, install kitchen and bathroom faucets, repair a water line, snake/camera/unclog sewer line, replace a large portion of exterior sewer line, repair a toilet, and install a new tankless water heater). Through all of these projects, Bob has always explained the issue and given suggestions/options for fixing it. We always appreciate that. He’s always been friendly and professional with us - never pushy and never made us feel pressured to purchase a particular service. Most importantly, we’ve always been happy with his work. That’s why we keep going back to him and why we’ve recommended him to our family and friends. We highly recommend Try-County Plumbing.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
