FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge per hour for drawing lessons, which also includes email correspondence and "homework" assignments if the client desires, which I highly recommend. For illustration projects I charge a flat fee based on the complexity of the project and the materials used (plus shipping if applicable).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Illustration: I begin by asking my client for details about their project including: what medium they want the work to be in, how large the illustrations are, how complex the images are, and how many images. If the client tells me their budget I can let them know what I can do for that price. Information that's necessary for me to understand what the project is can be sent directly to my email (kmsimonsen(AT)gmail) or social media account. Drawing lessons: For a first lesson I'd like to get to know my new student and learn what it is they're hoping to learn. I like to see some art they've done before, either in a school setting or on their own. Doodling, paint n' sip, and copying all count! I teach line drawing and pencil shading for almost any subject you're interested in.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with a Certificate in Drawing, where I took classes in fundamentals as well as animal drawing, anatomy, and traditional printmaking and sculpture. I then completed a coordinate BFA at the University of Pennsylvania where I took classes in art history and other topics, including the sciences.
