Big Brothers movers moved my family this weekend. The guys did a great job they carried very heavy furniture with just two guys and did two trips. Unfortunately they did have some deceptive pricing practices. We were quoted $90/hr for two guys with a 4 hour minimum. I did see a review for $30-$50/ hr with truck included but I assumed that meant per guy so I was okay with the $90. Additionally we provided our own truck. Then they ended up being here for 5.5 hours so over the 4 hours. And charged an over time fee of $135 an hour, time and half. We ended up paying for 6 hours 4 at original agreement and 2 at overtime. I had never heard of an overtime fee or travel fee until the end if we went over the original 4 hour minimum. We were also charged a $50 travel fee to do 2 trips ( travel time is 20 mins between). Owner did try to talk about pricing but I assumed since it was over 4 hours he was checking in if we had the cash to keep working the job at $90 an hour. But what he took it as was we were okay with paying “overtime” I would have NOT been okay with overtime over 4 hours since it was marketed as minimum. Additionally they broke a bed frame. In all they do good work, definitely not professionals but be prepared for surprise fees in the end. My advice to owner to go over all possible fees before you agree to a job. In retrospect I would have gone with a professional team for the price I ended up paying. Additionally they only accept cash.
