FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I attend seminars, workshops, subscribe to technical magazines in my field, and I have a full library of books. Although I have been sewing for over twenty years, I enrolled in a 2-year sewing and dressmaking design just to get my diploma. I was top in my class and graduated with honors.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mother was in the garment business when we lived in New York City. Growing up, there was a sewing machine in different rooms of the house and my mother was always sewing for either one of her three daughters. Although, I received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, sewing has been my life-long passion since around the age of 10. As president of my class, I had to raise money for our graduation trip and that was my turning point. I designed and sewed a collection and my models performed at a club and I raised enough money to fund our entire trip...and I've never looked back!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Besides teaching, I also contact alterations. The alterations vary from customer-to-customer as well as from season-to-season. For example, during wedding season, I perform hems on bridal, bridesmaid gown and tuxedo pants.
