Love Is a Journey
Life is love, and I love being a part of the journey toward people’s happiness, healing, growth, and wholeness.
Life can be hard sometimes. Whether you are preparing to marry the love of your life, navigating a difficult season, searching for spiritual direction, or simply need someone who will genuinely listen, Love Is a Journey was created to meet people where they are.
I am Rev. Brandon Bigelow, an ordained minister, educator, pastoral-care practitioner, mentor, and community leader with years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, students, and communities from diverse cultural, religious, and spiritual backgrounds.
I earned my Master of Divinity from the Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center, with studies emphasizing pastoral care and counseling, religion, spirituality, and healing. I am also ABD (All But Dissertation) in Urban Education at Jackson State University.
My professional experience has included serving as a University Chaplain/Director of Spiritual Life, college professor, student-affairs professional, community leader, and minister. As an adjunct professor, I have taught subjects including Philosophy, Religion, History, Politics, and African American studies, helping students examine some of life’s deepest questions about identity, purpose, faith, culture, relationships, and community.
Today, I continue serving in ministry as an Associate Minister and Men’s Ministry leader in Philadelphia, while remaining committed to community outreach, mentoring, public speaking, education, and service.
Wedding Officiating — Your Love, Your Story, Your Ceremony
Your wedding ceremony should reflect you.
I provide personalized wedding officiating for couples who want their ceremony to feel meaningful, genuine, intimate, spiritual, traditional, contemporary—or somewhere in between.
I welcome couples from diverse religious, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds. Whether you want Scripture and prayer incorporated throughout your ceremony or prefer something simple and nontraditional, we can create a ceremony that honors your relationship and tells your story.
Wedding services can include:
* Personalized and customized wedding ceremonies
* Traditional, spiritual, religious, or contemporary ceremonies
* Intimate weddings and elopements
* Virtual consultation/rehearsal
* Reserved ceremony date, time, and location
* Marriage-license signing and timely return
* Travel to your ceremony location
* Simple license-signing services for couples who do not need a full ceremony
* Guidance in creating vows, readings, prayers, and meaningful ceremony elements
Big wedding, small wedding, backyard wedding, elegant ceremony, intimate elopement, or “Rev., we just need to get married!” — I would be honored to be part of your day.
Spiritual & Pastoral Care
Sometimes you don’t need somebody to preach at you. You need somebody to listen to you.
My pastoral-care approach combines spiritual reflection, practical guidance, compassionate listening, education, and years of experience helping people navigate life’s transitions.
I have provided pastoral care, mentoring, crisis support, spiritual guidance, and individualized support in churches, universities, schools, and communities.
My clients and the people I serve come from many different spiritual, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Some are deeply connected to organized religion. Others are questioning their faith. Some have experienced religious or cultural wounds and simply need a safe place to talk, think, reflect, and begin moving forward.
My goal is not to force anyone into a particular religious box. My goal is to help you explore meaning, purpose, relationships, spirituality, personal growth, and healthy connectedness in a way that respects who you are.
Life Gets Real — And Sometimes We Need Support
We all experience emotional pressure, grief, disappointment, relationship difficulties, family challenges, stress, uncertainty, and moments when life simply becomes overwhelming.
I understand the realities facing individuals and families in our communities, particularly those navigating urban life, family responsibilities, educational challenges, grief, relationships, career transitions, and questions of faith and purpose.
If you’re looking for someone real to talk to—someone who will listen without pretending to have lived your exact story—come holler at me.
My approach is professional, compassionate, down-to-earth, culturally aware, and rooted in one simple belief:
People deserve to be heard. People deserve to be valued. And people deserve support as they work toward becoming the healthiest and most authentic version of themselves.
Whether I’m standing with you at the altar on one of the happiest days of your life or sitting with you during one of life’s more difficult seasons, my purpose remains the same:
To walk with people through the journey.
Because at the end of the day, Love Is a Journey—and love is everything.
