Mr. Anstis, of All Finished Interior Design, did several projects for us in the past few years. One of the first was a headboard was created for a king size bed, that complimented the accessories in the room, without taking up much space. It was the perfect solution for tying the room together to complete the look we desired. Most recently, he helped us stage our home for selling it. He painted several rooms, including the living room, two bathrooms, kitchen and hallways. He did a fabulous job fixing the flaws in the drywall that had been caused by the settling of the house and water damage from a leak in the roof. His eye for color is appreciated, as he was able to accomplish an atmosphere of warmth that our home was lacking. His attention to detail is impressive! He was able to use items already in my home, to stage the house for a quick sale. He recommended a few changes that he was able to complete in a short amount of time. I am extremely thankful we found All Finished Interior Design to help us with fixing up our home!

Karina is an extremely creative interior designer that understands the construction side of things. She was a great listener, had a vision and paid special attention to every detail. She really listened to our ideas, went through our magazine clippings and turned them into something concrete. She suggested layouts, color schemes, décor, designed our kitchen and bathrooms and stressed the importance of lighting. The kitchen was just what I wanted combining a clean design with functionality. I also hired her to manage the renovation and she took charge of the whole process flawlessly managing it. She has great instincts and would quickly problem solve as questions came up and kept things on schedule. She was a stickler for getting the work done right. She combined function, style and comfort, furnished our interior with some beautiful and unique pieces that all seemed to come together. We love our home and are still in awe of the transformation. She truly got what we wanted and brought it to life. I have referred her team to close friends and they are just as happy as we are.

Kathleen and Ellen are both very professional and talented decorators. I have hired them on several occasions, for decorating advice as well as color consulting for painting several rooms. They offered many helpful suggestions, at a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to redecorate, stage a home for selling, or rearranging a space.

Very quick responses to inquiries and questions. Amazing work on our basement bathroom! It came out so much better than we had imagined! Everyone was professional and did great work! The bathroom they made--which included tearing down walls and re-purposing a closet--is the best in our house!

I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. I bring limitless design ideas to the table. I design for you, my client, in all aspects of giving you a fresh new look in your home. From arrangement of furniture to color scheme and painting, I will give you what you want and need.

Dan has been designing and installing kitchens since 1993. Then in 1996, he formed The Kitchen Solution Co. to fulfill the need for a comprehensive resource for homeowners and builders who are designing custom kitchens and baths with a custom touch. Since then, The Kitchen Solution has become one of the most sought-after kitchen and bath design firms in the area.

Tronzo Designs is full-service interior design firm rooted in a love of color, creativity and fueled by a passion to provide each client with a living environment that is functional and elegant. My passion for design began at the early age of twelve when I was barely tall enough to see above the counter of my family's home decor boutique. My love of colors, forms and fabrics transformed me into a fixture within the family business. Fast forward to today and my pragmatic approach to design begins with an initial consultation transforming each client's vision into a conceptual design program. Each project is given my undivided attention from conception through installation. The result is a space that is functional, inviting and breathtaking. Tronzo Designs offers design consultation, room redesign, color consultation, personal shopping, as well as, moving day makeovers.

My expertise is in kitchen and bath design and remodeling. I love working with new clients and developing palettes for any and every room of the house. I am willing to be as hands-on or hands-off as you desire.

My philosophy is that everyone can live in beautiful, functional spaces if they plan carefully and think creatively. I believe your surroundings directly impact your quality of life, and so a room should be a statement about the people who live within it, not the person who decorated it. Your personality, interests and needs should be considered so that you feel at home in your home. Many know "what they like", but have difficulty coordinating the details or envisioning the end result. By ascertaining your tastes and requirements, I can help you achieve your goals. Together, we can create beautiful, unique, functional living spaces that make a statement about you.

I'm an all-around handyman with 5 years of experience working for a high-end construction company, and I've decided to branch out with my own small company. My prices are fair, and my work is always complete.

We are an interior and exterior residential remodeling company. We do custom interior renovations, roofing, siding, patios, sidewalks, and retaining walls. We provide free custom design for interior work. Home staging service is also available.

I provide kitchen design and sales featuring Mountaineer all-wood cabinets, granite, quartz and other counter tops. I also do bath remodeling and design.

I am an architect and an interior designer based in Monroeville, PA and I have been designing interiors for the last ten years. I believe in designing green and sustainable spaces and my goal for every project is to ensure that each space is exactly what the client envisions.

My design style ranges from contemporary to mid-century modern and Asian inspired. I believe that I can meet the needs of clients who wish to have openness, simplicity and sustainability without compromising elegance or the comforts and feel of being home. I can effectively convey the clients' needs, from the smallest detail to the grandest vision and translate to make their dream a reality.

I enjoy finding the best organizing solutions and interior decorations, while getting to know you, the customer, and fitting myself to your needs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

    • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
    • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
    • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
    • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
