Introduction: I’m a trained piano technician and rebuilder with a masters degree in piano technology and 10 years’ experience. A concert piano technician who tunes by ear, I am trained to bring your piano to its optimum performance in terms of touch and tone. I also install Dampp Chasers (piano saver), a personal humidity regulation system for your instrument. Armed with a Masters degree in Piano Technology from Florida State University, I have trained with some of the very best tuners and technicians in the country. The best part about my job is knowing I have left the customer with an instrument they love to play and practice on!

We feel Sharon went above and beyond to tune our old piano and she played a wonderful melody for us which brought tears to our eyes. She had many good tips for us also. Would certainly highly recommend her and will have her come back for more tunings most certainly.

Sharon brings a high level of professionalism and artistry to her craft. She is incredibly thorough, tremendously skilled, and brought our very old piano into new life. I am extremely impressed with her fusion of musicianship and engineering. I did not think I could find such expertise at an affordable rate. I look forward to having her back to continue to work with our piano.

I had a great experience working with her. She was professional but also friendly. Very Quick to answer my questions. Her work was perfect and she offered solutions to issues with my piano that previous tuners didn't. I will definitely be working with her in the future.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Typically, a standard tuning within Pittsburgh area will cost $160-350 and takes anywhere from 1-3 hours. It all depends on how well-maintained the instrument was to begin with.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

As a graduate of both the Western University piano technology certificate and Florida State Master of Arts in Piano Technology, I have apprenticed for and learned from some of the best piano techs in the country. I have also traveled to Ningbo, China and worked with the manufacturer of Hailun pianos.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

After undergrad (Economics) I had a very hands-on, carpentry type job. After leaving that company, I started looking for a career that combined music with my knack for woodworking- and that's when I found the piano technology certificate program located only an hour from where I grew up in London, Ontario.
