FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The Piano Practice offers a Basic Tuning/Service package for first time clients. Your piano will be tuned, get a light cleaning and be evaluated. The usual fee for a Basic Tuning is $165 but discounts are often offered to first time clients. Repairs are billed separately and are discussed before any work is done. Additional Full-Service packages are offered through the website for pianos that need or deserve better care.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We offer options for making inquiries, communicating with us and even setting up an tuning appointment. Email, phone, text and an interactive scheduling website allow our customers to get in touch with us at their convenience.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was trained at the North Bennet Street School in Boston. I completed the two year training program with thorough knowledge and skills for tuning, making repairs and restoration/rebuilding. I have also been certified as a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) by the Piano Technicians Guild. I have worked for 30+ years as a classically trained musician. I hold performance degrees in organ and piano from the Hartt School of Music and Yale.
