Welcome to PVD Guitar! My name is Nick Cooper, and I have been an avid musician and teacher for 20 years. I started PVD Guitar in 2016 out of a desire to offer a fun and engaging lesson experience for students of all skill levels. As one of my students, I will strive to provide you with the following:

Nick was very professional, responsive and on time. He worked very well with our 11 year old so the kid always knew and understood what Nick was trying to teach him. Nick ended each session with a recap and practice work for the kid to work on between lessons. I'd recommend Nick if anyone is looking for lessons.

Nick is Great! This is my first time taking guitarlessons and I couldn’t be more happy with my lessons. Learning something new can be overwhelming..I think Nick does a great Job taking that overwhelming feeling away and take it one step at a time. The after lesson notes are very helpful to keep track of everything you have learned and what to work on!

Learning from Nick has been great! His lessons/plans/notes are concise and not overwhelming for a beginner. I saw progress after the first few lessons which was awesome and something I had not really experienced messing around with the guitar/ taking some lessons over the years. I would highly recommend Nick to anyone wanting to play guitar!

Nick is a great teacher. Period. Six months ago I was almost 30 yrs old and totally new to guitar! I had it in my head that I probably should have started learning earlier in life. Even though I'm not the fastest learner, but Nick has been able to keep things interesting for me throughout the challenge of learning a new skill. From spending time with him at his practice space I've learned that he has experience with teaching and playing all levels/styles. One thing I really appreciate is that each week he emails a new "Lesson Note" with updated goals and suggestions for practicing. Something a little extra to keep his students inspired, motivated and on track. Totally works!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My private lesson rates are:
$50 - 30 min.
$65 - 45 min.
$80 - 60 min.
I do offer a discount for students that pay monthly in advance (min. 3 lessons):
$40 - 30 min.
$55 - 45 min.
$70 - 60 min.
Travel pricing varies by availability and distance travelled.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start by evaluating a new student's previous playing experience, ability level, and personal goals. From there, I tailor the lessons to help them move steadily towards their goals and address any bigger issues that may be holding them back.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 15 years of experience as a full-time guitar instructor working with students of all ages, ability levels, interests, and goals. I graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2008 with a B.A. in Jazz Studies for guitar and the URI Award for Musical Excellence.
