They came out to repair a botched tile job in the bathroom of my guest house, and also redid all the grout. Considering what they had to work with they did a good job and there were no games. They showed up on time when they said they would be here and I will hire them again.

Fabricio and his crew installed granite countertop and a tile backsplash for us in our new house. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The price was nearly half what other companies quoted us so it definitely saved our budget. We had a small countertop space installed in an interior window cutout. We were nervous at first with the size of the countertop overhang because it would shrink our walkway. However, with careful measuring, cutting, and installing of the countertop it turned out awesome! We highly recommend Fabricio and Imperial Marble and Granite for all of your kitchen/bathroom needs. We will definitely be using them in the future again.

This was my first time hiring David for a project to install backsplash in my kitchen. To start out, David's communication throughout the entire project was excellent. He was on time each day and thoroughly cleaned up after himself after each day of work. I have been a homeowner for many years. Trying to find a contractor who communicates well, cleans up after themselves, shows up on time and completes project on time is rare in the industry. To top it off, David craftsmanship was excellent. He was detail oriented and would not closeout the project until he thought each detail was perfect; then confirming with me if the job was to my satisfaction. I would definitely recommend David for work. GREAT JOB DAVID!

I had a bathroom from the 1970's complete with a blue tab and tile. All the tiles along the tub were falling out and leaking. I called Bathfitters, and they wanted an exorbinate amount to fix it. Tony came out and gave me some fantastic ideas. First of all, he suggested we retain the blue tub, which I wanted to do, and which makes the bathroom unique. Then he suggested a bring in a neutral wall tile, BUT add aborder of blue tile that would match the bathtub and bring the room together. He also quoted me for a new floor, painting the wall, installing a new toilet, and moving and reinstalling a heavy cabinet. He work was impeccable. He was always on time. He price was unbelievably less than Bathfitters to do all the work. He also did extra work, like personally refinishing some work along the border of the shower. He went out of his way to do an amazing job. I would highly recommend him for his attention to detail, creativity, and willingness to work with the client.

I am a builder and was up against a deadline to finish a variety of punchlist items to ensure the sale would close on time. Stu had a proposal for me right away and met me on site the next morning to go over the list which included finish carpentry, tile work, electrical and installation of accessories. Stu sacrificed his entire Thanksgiving day and weekend to ensure my deadline would be met. Communication was excellent and everything went smoothly. Stu is not only a qualified professional tradesman but also a true and honest gentleman.

Royal Contracting did a redo of our kitchen and bathroom. They had to correct some errors from the first kitchen contractors 20 years earlier, such as redo the bathroom floor to keep the tiles from cracking. They repainted all the cabinets, added new knobs, sink, and changed the formica to granite

Tyler was on time to tile my bathroom. He explained what needed to be done and completed the job when he told me it would be. He is very friendly and personable to work with. His price was very reasonable compared to others. We are considering doing another bathroom with him since the first one went so well.

Jose placed new tile and a toilet in my bathroom, replaced a damaged wall and baseboard, and contracted to have painting done once all was finished. The job took 4 days as Jose quoted and he was there everyday without fail. Jose was informative and went above and beyond to address my many concerns. There was an issue with the toilet leaking and Jose came back to return the damaged toilet and replaced it with a better model. He also painted an area of the bathroom in which the painter neglected to do and replaced new bathroom fixtures and blinds. He also followed up with Waste Management for me when they neglected to pick up the debris in front of my home. Overall, it was a good experience considering stories I've heard from other home owners and their issues with contractors/workers. I would definitely do business with JAM Tile and Remodeling again!

This was one of the best Home Remodeling experiences we have ever had. We worked with Ely Jimenez of Del Cid Design and Construction. Ely does the best workmanship we have ever seen. He is wonderfully communicative and professional. He provided us with photographs of every single detail that he worked with. He was very flexible, patient, and creative. He transformed our old-fashioned bathroom into a beautiful, modern bathroom. He somehow fit a large, working washer and dryer into a closet. He is an excellent general contractor who works well with multiple sub-contractors. We 100% recommend Del Cid Design and Construction for any home remodeling task, no matter how big or small. The job was to install the tile underflooring and lay tile for the 8x10 bathroom floor. This was the first time I have used Chad McGee and his assistant Jay for this bathroom repair after a burst heating pipe. They were simply outstanding and worked together beautifully. Chad is very professional, precise, does beautiful work and is a pleasure to have in one's home! He arrived when expected, even a bit earlier, and both he and his assistant got right to work. They did not waste a moment. I would HIGHLY recommend Chad McGee Tile and Construction. Flawless!

We were looking for a contractor who was willing to do a smaller project for my elderly parents which involved giving their kitchen a makeover/update with a limited budget. Not only was Brant willing, but he gave their kitchen a facelift that made it look so bright and refreshed from the old, dated dark kitchen it was and freshened up the dining room as well! Most contractors will try to convince you to do more, but Brant knew there was a limited budget and worked within that budget to accomplish a fresh new look. We were so pleased with the results that we will be using BRG Construction Services to construct a first floor bathroom project that is necessary because of my Mom's physical limitations so she can remain in her home. So if you have a project be it small or large, you can feel confident that BRG Construction Services will do a great job at a fair price.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

      • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
        • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
