I was quite impressed with the way Sensei Werth greeted us before class, having been fully prepped on the quirks of my sometimes overly sensitive 8-year old. What impressed me most is that he met us in regular clothing before dressing to lead the class - thereby giving my son an opportunity to interact with him as a regular person he might meet on the street as opposed to another instructor we'd visited a few years prior, who was already engaged in teaching students. My son was "incorporated" into the class, not just to observe, but to participate so he'd have a much better (hands on) opportunity to understand how the class was run. What continued to impress me was that Sensei Werth continued to be the genuine individual he is and not morph into someone teaching in a rote manner - he managed to meet each individual in the family class where they were, without judgement and clearly giving them the respect he aspired to be given himself. I wish I could introduce you to my son as a part of this review as it's difficult to relay in writing how challenging he can be. He is silly at times, has hopelessly high expectations of his abilities (and himself) at other times...he's probably just like any other boy aged 8-10 years old, but the only one that I've had to raise. He's funny and smart, but always thinking, thinking, thinking, and if he thinks he can't master something right away, he's ready to throw in the towel and quit. Sensei Werth has a manner about him that is curious, respectful and encouraging - basically the patience of a saint when it comes to young children. How he and the co-owner of the dojo manage essentially a pack of wild wolves (boys) during a class (we've been to 3 now!) is amazing. Wait, don't think there's only young children in this class as well as beginners - no, there are adults and parents participating as well! My martial arts experience is limited and from well over 20 years ago, so I like to think I have a good idea of classes can be run. My experience is more from a self-defense prospect; I very much enjoyed classes offered by my Sensei in college, but he did have a slightly different approach when he was addressing larger groups of individuals at varying levels and practicing Go-Jo-Ru Karate. Sensei Werth's approach with students seems much more gentle and individualized - skills are not rushed and everyone is encouraged to participate at their level - whether it be skill and/or energy. Overall, this has been a very rewarding experience and I look forward to seeing my son's self-confidence (the secondary goal) grow and hope he's able to learn how to efficiently and safely burn off his abundant energy (primary goal).
I first got in touch with Master Cooper when I had to go to New England on business. I didn't want to miss any training/sparring (I do kickboxing in the UK) so I've asked if I could come down to the club. I've had a very warm welcome from everybody, excellent training and great facilities. Kerson was also very helpful when I've asked about my sparring. I've learnt some things that I still use. Since then I got my second Dan black belt, my coaching course completed and came third in a National Competition. We've stayed in touch and as I really value his opinion I still would ask Master Cooper for his opinion. I just wish I was closer so I could always train at NEMA.
Mike is the most passionate, motivating, and all around awesome guy that I have ever met. I've been training with him for the past 4 years, and personal training the past 4 months. The man is educated and has experience in absolutely everything fitness related. He is truly professional, he is always upfront, and a very hard worker. Not to mention he is a better cook than me, and I'm a chef! I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone; from people who want to gain muscle and lose fat, to people who simply want to learn more about getting in shape and eating right. He does it all!
Sam is a knowledgeable, friendly, and all-around great trainer. He really helped me gain a better understanding of fitness by explaining each exercise and interval to me in great detail! He also helped me get into kickboxing, which I absolutely loved. His methods helped me on my way to getting more toned, flexible, and fit!
I've been working with Kirby for a short while, but have known her as a trainer for a few years. Kirby is highly motivating and good at what she does. I have some physical challenges, and Kirby always works around them so that I always feel better after our workouts. If you're looking for someone to kick your butt into gear, she's the right trainer for you.
Rocky is a great mentor and a coach , He is also a great motivator and he makes sure that you reach your goals and adjust to your liking. So far I've been training doing boxing with him for about 2 weeks now and I feel way better! Let's lazy and more motivated to start the next day of a 5 day a week training session!
This was an excellent workshop. It was exactly what I was looking for -- a class on self-defense techniques and empowerment for women. Anne made the environment very comfortable and explained things fully. She engaged the class. If Anne offers any follow-up workshops, I will definitely attend.
My child is a student here and loves it! This is a family oriented school. The thing I love the most is they are really teaching my child to defend himself. His confidence has improved immensely and his grades in school have improved also. His school teachers have said they noticed remarkable improvement in him since he started taking karate. The prices are also much better than the other schools we visited when we were searching. You will not be disappointed. Karen J
As a former high school, junior olympic, and NCAA college volleyball player, I have spent years training and getting in shape to compete at a high level. In all of that time I never came across a trainer like Mark. His passion, knowledge, and scientific approach to fitness is inspiring. He is not your typical body building trainer who yells and wants "ten more reps" out of you. Mark helps you to use body weight, kettle bells, TRX and other equipment and philosophies to make your session considerably more enjoyable than lifting weights, and running on the treadmill. Mark has worked with me for a few months now and I have never had so much fun "working out." He pushes me through encouragement to take the extra rep, or start a new workout plan, and of course maintain a healthy diet. Mark works out of a facility in Warwick, RI called Unleashed. This is nothing like your typical gym. There are obstacles you would see in a tough mudder, or spartan race, along with kettle bells, TRX straps, sleds, punching bags, tires, and sledgehammers, you name it they've got it. It is clean, and easily accessible. For anyone looking to get in shape, and get away from the boring workouts at the gym, I highly, and enthusiastically recommend Mark Grover.
I've been training Fang Shi Do for 1 1/2 years and it has become a way of life for me. In a short period of time I had lost 40lbs of body fat and learned some of the most brutal fighting techniques in self defense to date. Master Chief Instructor Tommy DiLallo and the Fang Shi Do fighting method have completely changed my life, I believe it will do the same for you.

I started Kickboxing back when was in high school. At first, it was just an extra curricular activity; a way to cope with stress, anger, and teen angst. Now, I'm fortunate enough to say it's my career. I went through all levels , fought at many local mixed martial arts events, and am proud to say I am now on the UFC's roster. I have always enjoyed teaching and am experienced training people at any level in their own personal fitness journey. I have taught a variety of different classes including strength and conditioning, Muay Thai, and cardio kickboxing. Additionally, my availability is flexible in order to meet my clients' scheduling needs. I have been trained under: Jake Manini, Muay Thai coach at Boston Muay Thai Academy/Hard Knock Muay Thai Kenny Quon, Muay Thai/Head coach at Trifecta MMA Joe Pompfret, Kickboxing coach at Lauzon MMA Steve Maze, Boxing Coach at Lauzon MMA
